We are currently right in the middle of the Travelife certification process, taking a close look at everything we do: Where can we act even more consciously? What can we improve? And how can we integrate our responsibility for the environment and society even more firmly into our everyday work and cycling holidays?

News about our current projects

It probably comes as no surprise that we love cycling. In May, we once again made a conscious effort to use our bikes for everyday journeys and collected kilometres together as part of STADTRADELN in Marburg. Whether commuting to the office, going shopping or cycling in our free time, the kilometres soon added up for the Velociped team. It is a wonderful initiative that shows just how easily exercise, enjoyment and climate-friendly mobility can go hand in hand.
For us, however, sustainability is about more than protecting the environment and the climate. Social responsibility is just as important. At the beginning of June, a special cycling tour through Hesse helped raise awareness of the important topic of organ donation. We were delighted to support the initiative organised by the organization "Förderung zur Organspende Hessen" with a donation and Velociped buffs for the cyclists. Because sometimes a bicycle can do more than connect people and places – it can also help bring important social issues into the spotlight.

Working Together for the Burgwald Forest

What is right on our doorstep is especially close to our hearts. So once again this summer, it was time to put on our work gloves and get stuck in together! On a sunny Saturday morning in August, we joined the local association “Rettet den Burgwald” together with family and friends in the countryside around Marburg. Our task was to remove the invasive Himalayan balsam from a meadow. Its bright pink flowers may look beautiful, but the plant spreads rapidly and can displace native species. So we got busy pulling, collecting and working up quite a sweat. And, of course, all that hard work called for a well-earned break and something tasty to keep us going. It was a wonderful morning spent together, giving something back to nature while also learning a little more ourselves.

News for you – our cycling friends - Cycling with foresight

A lot has been happening not only within our company, but also across our cycling holidays. In the future, we would like to give you even more guidance when it comes to sustainability. That is why we introduced our new travel category Cycling with foresight this summer, which you will also find in our upcoming 2027 catalogue. The accompanying tree icon allows you to see at a glance which tours stand out for particular sustainable features. These tours are not only about beautiful views from the saddle, but above all about looking ahead to the future. When selecting them, we take a closer look at four key areas: the sustainability efforts of the region, the commitment of the hotels, environmentally arrivald and departure from the destination, and the organisation of logistics and luggage transfers. Our aim is to provide greater transparency about what goes into our cycling holidays while making it easier for you to find a tour that matches your own ideas of responsible travel.

Our conclusion

Our sustainability journey continues! Many small steps eventually add up to a great journey – and that is exactly how we see our path towards greater sustainability. We want to keep moving forward, explore new ideas and take responsibility wherever we can make a meaningful difference.
