Report from the sustainability team

A lot has happened for us in recent months. We have reached an important milestone on our journey toward greater sustainability and are already working intensively on the next steps – because protecting our environment is particularly close to our hearts.

In this blog post, we provide insights into our sustainability journey so far, report on current projects, and share the major goal we aim to achieve by the end of the year. Join us on this exciting path – full of new ideas, challenges, and plenty of motivation.

Report from the sustainability team

A lot has happened in our sustainability process. We are very pleased to have reached the second stage of the three-level Travelife training and certification programme for sustainability management in the travel industry. Since November 2025, we have officially been a Travelife Partner.

Now we are working with great commitment to meet the more extensive requirements in the eleven required categories. Our next goal is to achieve the status of “Travelife Certified.”

News about our sustainability team

Sustainability and tourism don’t go together? Quite the opposite. At the Travelife Award Ceremony at ITB Berlin 2026, we were able to see exactly that. Companies from over 70 countries were honoured for achieving a sustainability status – and we are very pleased to be among those recognised. Our sustainability expert Katrin Gierlinger accepted the official certificate for the Travelife Partner status at the world’s largest international tourism trade fair. The ceremony was preceded by a short panel discussion that provided interesting insights and valuable information about sustainable tourism. For us, this award is a wonderful confirmation: our commitment to greater sustainability is being recognised and appreciated. At the same time, it motivates us to continue consistently on this path.

News about our current projects

  • We are currently waiting for feedback from the association “Rettet den Burgwald” (Save the Burgwald) to take part in another volunteer work project. Last year, together with colleagues, family members and friends, we enthusiastically supported the association in maintaining moor regeneration areas. We are excited to see which project we will be able to contribute to this year.
  • Of course, we will also participate again in the “Stadtradeln” (City Cycling) campaign to start collecting cycling kilometres from May 1st 2026. Stadtradeln is a competition in which participants aim to complete as many everyday journeys as possible by bicycle over a period of 21 days in a climate-friendly way. Local politicians also take part and gain valuable insights into where cycling infrastructure is already good and where improvements are needed. This international campaign strengthens cycling and helps improve bike infrastructure – something that benefits our guests as well.
  • At the same time, we are actively searching for social projects in the Marburg region where we can contribute and engage in a sustainable way.

News for you – our cycling friends

In the future, you will receive tips on “Mindfulness in Nature and with Others” together with your travel documents to help make your cycling holiday even more sustainable. We believe that great things can be achieved when as many people as possible take small steps towards sustainability. Starting this season, we have decided to include only digital travel documents for our Velociped Original tours. Our tour app has already proven its value and offers a modern, practical and environmentally friendly alternative. In this way, we reduce paper consumption and, together with you, contribute to protecting the climate.

Our conclusion

We will continue working to improve sustainability within our company and to involve our partners and guests on this journey. Our goal is to make your active holiday an even more environmentally friendly experience
