Report from the sustainability team

A lot has happened because sustainability is close to our hearts: we have immersed ourselves in the certification process, reviewed and changed office procedures, diligently collected information from our partners, and worked on new projects. In short, we are in the middle of an exciting journey that challenges us every day—and inspires us. Find out how these changes feel, what progress we have already made, and why the journey is just as important to us as the destination.

Report from the **sustainability team**

Active environmental protection with projects and team spirit

News about our sustainability team

In order to continuously develop our ideas and measures, we rely on teamwork and exchange. Our sustainability team continues to meet every two weeks to discuss progress, make decisions, and clearly plan the next steps. The cooperation with our partners in the travel industry is particularly valuable: Together, we exchange experiences, learn from each other, and develop structures that have an impact far beyond our own office. This reminds us time and again that sustainability is best achieved together. In addition, the Travelife Academy provides us with valuable ideas and tools to further advance the certification process. Sustainability should not be seen as an isolated project, but as a shared network.

News about our current projects

Right here in our home, we can make a difference, strengthen our region, and at the same time contribute to global climate protection. Together, part of the Velociped team pedaled hard and collected kilometers for climate protection during the “City Cycling” event in Marburg and the surrounding area. City Cycling is a three-week event where participants collect kilometers cycled and send a strong message about climate protection and sustainable mobility. Whether on the way to work, to daycare, or in their free time, this team activity was not only fun, but also showed how important sustainable mobility is in everyday life.

Save the Burgwald

We can make a difference not only on our bikes – we are also actively committed to protecting the environment off the road. Together with our families and friends, we have supported the “Rettet den Burgwald” association in maintaining moorland regeneration areas. The Burgwald is the largest contiguous forest area in Hesse and impresses with its unspoiled nature. Vast beech and mixed forests alternate with moors, clear streams, and species-rich meadows. Numerous rare animal and plant species find their habitat here. On a pleasantly warm and sunny Saturday, we worked up quite a sweat and were happy to use the short rain showers to cool off. Through such activities, we not only strengthen the community, but also contribute to preserving valuable habitats that play an important role in climate protection by storing large amounts of CO₂.

News for you – our cycling friends

For us, the path to greater sustainability is an ongoing process in which even small decisions can have a big impact. That's why, starting in 2026, we will be consistently using digital travel documents for all Velociped Original tours. Our tour app has long proven itself and offers you a modern, practical, and eco-friendly alternative. This allows us to reduce paper consumption and, together with you, contribute to climate protection—while maintaining convenience: always up-to-date information, interactive maps, and everything directly on your smartphone. And sustainability doesn't end after the trip: our bikes should continue to provide many years of enjoyment. That's why we offer our high-quality touring bikes and e-bikes for sale as part of our Velo Sale. They are ideal for leisure, touring, or everyday use—sustainable, proven, and ready to ride. This way, our bikes can continue their journey—perhaps soon with you, where they will continue to bring joy and be actively used.

News about the certification process

We are still in the middle of the Travelife certification process – and we are not only recording our plans digitally, we are also implementing them directly! Whether as a team or together with our partners: we are getting stuck in, testing new things and putting our ideas directly into practice on the cycle path. We have already implemented a number of small but effective measures: digital work processes instead of mountains of paper, energy-saving routines such as putting our computers in standby mode, working from home to reduce ways to the office, and improved waste separation. And then there are the local projects, which are really fun and make a difference at the same time – we are not only bringing sustainability into our everyday lives, but also directly into the region.

Landscapes in the Spessart

Our conclusion

Every small step counts — together they add up to a big picture. For us, Travelife certification is not a dry formality, but a living process. We learn, try things out, take action, and experience how sustainability makes a difference every day.
