Bike rental Marburg an der Lahn

Velociped bike tours

Marburg is home to Velociped's headquarters, but that's not the only reason why Marburg is worth a visit for cycling enthusiasts. The tried-and-tested Velociped bikes can also be rented by visitors to the city on a daily basis, because in addition to the picturesque and romantic university town on the River Lahn, which is criss-crossed by cycle paths, there are also some rewarding tours in the beautiful surrounding area.

Cycling along rivers and lakes without any inclines and in a relaxed manner

You can enjoy a leisurely bike ride along the rivers Lahn, Eder, Ohm, and Salzböde or from lake to lake. The Lahn Cycle Route, for example, leads straight through the medieval town and past beautiful half-timbered houses reflected in the water.
The Lahn flows through Marburg's “lower town,” which is not its official name. There you will also find the impressive Gothic Elisabethkirche church. However, it is best not to cycle up to the upper town, the historic market square, and the old town, as the route is quite steep and involves many steps. So treat yourself to a ride on one of the two elevators that connect the lower and upper towns, or walk up. Further up, the imposing Landgrave Castle sits enthroned on a rock, offering fantastic views of the town, the surrounding countryside, the river, and the bike paths, as well as the Untergasse and the city walls, and old buildings from the 13th to 15th centuries.
Downstream, you can cycle along the Lahn to Giessen, for example, where you can cycle without any effort, or upstream to Biedenkopf.
When you return to Marburg, simply continue along the Lahn Cycle Route and head straight for the Ufercafé with its boat hire. You're sure to enjoy taking a break there and celebrating the end of your day's tour. For a change of pace or a different perspective, why not hop into one of the pedal boats and explore the city from the river?

Or by bike through the hills of Hesse

Those looking for a more challenging bike ride can choose a tour through the hills of central Hesse, through the Burgwald forest or the wild and romantic Lahn-Dill-Bergland nature park, where there are also steeper climbs to tackle.
All our routes in the Marburg district offer beautiful landscapes and castles, fortified churches, manor houses, and even a witch's tower (in Kirchhain) to see for free. And of course, the Marburg specialties are also worth exploring: However, there is no one typical dish, because Marburg is as colorful as its international population. There are half-timbered taverns, vaulted cellars, and wine bars, as well as hip student pubs and exquisite restaurants. Breton galettes, a pasta factory, exquisite specialties, or perhaps you prefer Hessian “Worschtbrod”? A glass of Lahn wine is a must, of course. Riesling and Pinot Noir are typical grape varieties grown on the Marburg Schlossberg.
And there's always something going on here: city festivals, markets, concerts, theater, pubs, beer gardens... take your pick!

Bike rental, routes, and tips for excursions in Marburg from Velociped

For all your adventures in and around Marburg, we offer a range of reliable touring bikes in the classic Velociped green in various sizes for hire: for example, our 7-speed touring bikes with comfortable, wide gel saddles that allow you to sit upright and relaxed. The 7-speed touring bike from Campus is built especially for us and is equipped with a sturdy aluminum frame for a smooth ride. We recommend this bike to anyone who wants a coaster brake (V-brakes from the mountain bike sector). It is equipped with a simple Shimano hub gear system, which is operated by a twist grip, and is ideal for tours on flat to slightly hilly terrain. Of course, this green wonder is available as a men's or women's bike. We recommend this bike for cycling tours on flat terrain, such as the Lahn Cycle Route, or in slightly hilly regions.

Or do you prefer our sportier 27-speed touring bikes with Shimano derailleur gears (with Alivio shift levers and Deore rear derailleur) without coaster brakes for riding up and down hills? The modern and comfortable gear ratio comes from the mountain bike sector. This makes every incline a breeze! And you can operate the gears ergonomically with your thumb or index finger directly on the handlebar grip without taking your hands off the handlebars. This bike also features V-brakes from the MTB sector. The stem can be adjusted in height and angle, the saddle can be adjusted using a quick release, and the touring handlebars are comfortable. The Velociped green bikes are available with men's or women's frames.

Effortless cycling is possible with our green e-bikes from Velo de Ville, which are specially designed for Velociped and are available with coaster brakes, a suspension seat post, and front fork, as well as with a freewheel. The well-tuned gears offer a high level of riding comfort. You can adjust how much assistance you want or need using the control unit on the handlebars. The powerful Bosch motor provides reliable support. It is located in the center of the bottom bracket, from where the power is transferred directly to the bike chain, ensuring a low center of gravity and stable, safe handling. This allows you to ride through the countryside at speeds of up to 25 km/h with electric assistance and in complete relaxation.
