Tour
Arrive in Marburg in good time today and discover the famous Elisabeth Church, the Marburg Landgrave's Castle and, of course, the old town, which is well worth seeing. If you arrive on a Saturday, you can take part in the two-hour guided tour of the city at 3.00 p.m. and get an optimal overview from a professional hand and certainly also some insider tips!
The next round tour in the bicycle saddle is waiting for you. On varied cycle paths, forest tracks and farm tracks you will once again discover the scenic diversity around Marburg. Your destination for the day, the "Dammühle", is one of the most beautiful restaurants in the hinterland and will delight you with its idyllic beer garden. The "Dammühle" is a historic, listed water mill that has been in the family for more than 300 years. Take in a game of mini-golf and fortify yourself for the return journey, which begins with a short climb (approx. 500 m long). Whether you finally arrive in Marburg early in the afternoon or not until nightfall depends more on the length of your break in the beer garden than on the short climb?
Today you cycle to the more than 700-year-old Brücker Mühle, where you can experience the complex production process from grain to flour during a tour of the running historic mill true to the original. Afterwards, fortify yourself in the idyllic mill yard or on the green sofa in the old pump room. Now it's time to set off again, high up into the historic excursion town of Amöneburg. The ascent is not without effort, but you will be rewarded with a unique panoramic view, a wonderful circular wall walk and finally a roaring descent. The return to Marburg on completely flat cycle paths rounds off the first day of the excursion.
Almost a cycling-free day, but you can't do without pedalling. In the morning you will need your pedal power to explore the Lahn and Marburg from the water in a pedal boat. Afterwards you can take a forest walk up to the Spiegelslustturm, the most beautiful viewing terrace over Marburg. From the tower you can enjoy the magnificent panoramic view over the city and the countryside and proudly reconstruct the cycling routes you have mastered over the past few days. The afternoon is at leisure and can be used for further sightseeing or a leisurely stroll through the many winding alleys of the old town.
And we have another real highlight for you. You cycle along a former railway line on a romantic cycle path towards your worthwhile destination, Rauischholzhausen Castle and Park. The spacious castle park, an English landscape park of about 30 hectares with almost 300 different tree species, has been under landscape protection since 1956 and was included in the European themed route of the 'European Garden Heritage Network' in 2009. The park, the castle and the nice café will delight you. Your return journey takes you along the beautiful railway line, before it is time to say goodbye to all the favourite places in Marburg's old town in the evening.
In the morning your wonderful bicycle - star tour in Marburg ends at the hotel. We wish you a pleasant journey home.
