Round trip from Munich

The city of Munich and its beautiful surroundings offer ideal conditions for wonderful cycling tours. Numerous cycle paths and signposted cycle routes lead through Munich city centre and out to the outskirts of the city. Munich's green lung, the Isar River and the English Garden, are excellent starting points for all cycling tours. You leave Munich in idyllic surroundings on the cycle path directly along the banks of the Isar. Beyond Munich, wonderful blue swimming lakes await you, such as Lake Starnberg, Lake Ostersee, Lake Staffelsee and Lake Tegernsee. Enjoy the rustic Upper Bavarian landscape with its magnificent Alpine panorama along the way. Look forward to the dazzling Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Zugspitze. However, it is better not to climb Germany's highest mountain by bike, but rather by cable car, before your cycle path takes you to the pretty old town of Mittenwald. From here, the Isar Cycle Path will be your faithful companion. Most of the Munich Lake Tour is on tarmac cycle paths, gravel riverside paths or asphalted country roads. The entire route is easy to follow thanks to good signage. At the end of the cycle tour, the Isar Cycle Path will take you safely back to Munich, the starting point of your cycling trip.
