Croatia Kvarner Bay Plus: Bike & Boat with Deluxe Ship
tour description
The charm of the Adriatic
Protected by the mighty Velebit mountains in the east and the Istrian peninsula in the north-west lie the islands of the Kvarner Bay. Surrounded by crystal clear water there are secluded bays, green hills, rugged stone landscapes and small port towns steeped in history. With a comfortable motor yacht as floating accommodation and the e-bike, you will experience the charm of the Adriatic in a very special way. In some respects, the course of the tour corresponds to that of our regular bike cruise in the Kvarner Bay, so that the Plus Tour is also a good alternative if your desired date in the Kvarner Bay is fully booked.
Deluxe ship ANDELA LORA
The Anđela Lora, completed in the spring of 2012, will be sent on island hopping trips alongside the Linda as Captain Damir's second ship. The motor yacht is an extremely elegant steel ship of the deluxe category. With an impressive length of 40 m and a width of 8.50 m, she is one of the largest ships in our Croatian fleet. 17 spacious and tastefully furnished guest cabins (12 - 14 sqm) with tiled bathrooms and separate showers are at your disposal. At the stern, the ship has a bathing platform that allows easy access to the sea. A cozy lounge on the upper deck of the ship and numerous loungers on the various sun decks invite you to relax and make the trip on the Andela Lora a special experience.
1. day Omisalj (embarkation) & Omisalj - island of Cres
Individual arrival in Omisalj, a tranquil harbor town on the island of Krk. Use the time before embarkation for a first swim in the Adriatic Sea or enjoy an ice cream in the ice cream parlor located directly at the port. Between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. you will move into your cabin on the motor glider. The ship leaves at around 3 p.m. and takes you to Cres in four hours. In the evening you take a small tour with the tour guide through the Venetian-style old town of Cres.
2. day Islands of Cres and Losinj, approx. 28 km
In the morning you start your first bike tour to Martinscica. Your ship awaits you here for lunch and a trip to the island of Losinj. On the way you can take a refreshing bathing break before you reach the old seafaring and health resort of Mali Losinj with its large harbor basin, numerous cafés and brightly painted house facades.
3. day Islands Losinj and Molat, approx. 20 km + 10 km
Via the extensive promenade, which winds along many picturesque bays, you will reach the southernmost part of the island and visit the picturesque Veli Lošinj. The small harbor with its numerous fishing boats is dominated by the mighty church of St. Anton. After lunch, the ship departs and takes you to the flower island of Molat, where you cycle another small stage and spend the night.
4. day Island Dugi Otok - Zadar, approx. 48 km
In the morning the ship takes you to the spice island Dugi Otok. In the Božava Bay, surrounded by pine forests, agaves and tamarisks, your bike tour begins on an almost car-free road. Enjoy the panorama along the "long island" on your way to Sali, where the ship awaits you for the crossing to Zadar, which was the political, cultural and spiritual center of Dalmatia for centuries. 3,000 years of history characterize the cityscape here, and there is much to admire: the mighty fortress wall, the loggia, but also the early Romanesque St. Donatus Basilica.
5. day Island Pag - Rab, approx. 20 km
After a morning crossing you will reach the island of Pag. Many fig and olive trees thrive in the rugged but charming landscape of this island. Over the centuries, numerous stone walls have been built here by the residents to protect them from the wind. You cycle from Novalja on the ever narrowing peninsula to the sea to Lun, from where you cross over to Rab. Here you will discover the fortified island capital that emerged in the Middle Ages - one of the highlights of the trip. The four famous bell towers shape the image of this beautiful, romantic city. After dinner, many cozy cafes lure you into the narrow streets.
6. day Island of Rab, approx. 25 km
Today you will get to know the enchanting island of Rab on a beautiful circular tour by bike. At midday, the ship will be waiting for you in the harbor right in front of the old town of Rab to take you to the neighboring island of Krk. Spend the evening in the historic town of the same name.
7. day Island of Krk, approx. 45 km
You cycle over the ridge of the island, overgrown with fragrant macchia, into a valley of vineyards and arrive at the small museum town of Vrbnik in the north-east. Built on a rock more than 50 m high in the middle of the vineyards, Vrbnik is the home of the white Žlahtina wine. Vrbnik also offers friends of superlatives the second narrowest street in the world - a strolling challenge. The further path takes you across the island through old villages and lush vegetation to Omišalj - Rijeka comes into view. On the way you can take a healing mud bath in the bay of Soline. Overnight in Omisalj. After dinner, you can end your trip with a cozy get-together with tour guides and crew on board the ship.
8. day Omisalj (Disembarkation)
Disembarkation in the morning by 9:00 a.m. and individual journey home or extension of your Croatia vacation.

Worth knowing about the Kvarner Bay trip with the deluxe ship
Below you will find specific information about the Kvarner Bay trip by deluxe ship. If you have any further questions about this trip, simply give us a call: Tel.: +49 (0)6421 - 886890.
Arrival by plane
To travel in the Kvarner Bay, you can fly to Rijeka Airport, which, like the port of embarkation Omisalj, is on the island of Krk. Flight offers can be researched and booked, for example, at www.opodo.com or www.swoodoo.com.
When booking your flight, please note that the ship from Omisalj usually departs at 3:00 p.m. and check-in is between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. If you want to book a flight that lands after 2 p.m., please contact us. If you don't get any flight connections to Rijeka, you can also fly to Zagreb Airport. A shared transfer to Omisalj and back to the airport is offered here on the day of embarkation and disembarkation. A reservation stating the exact flight details is possible and required up to a maximum of 14 days before the start of the trip. Departure times to Omišalj (on the day of embarkation): from Zagreb Airport: 12:15 p.m.; Departure time from Omišalj to Zagreb (on the day of disembarkation): 08:00 a.m.)
arriving by car
From Frankfurt via Munich - Salzburg - Villach - Ljubljana - Koper to Pula and on to Rijeka, the distance is about 1000 km. To enter Croatia you need your driver's license, the vehicle registration document and the green insurance card for the vehicle. In Omisalj, we will be happy to organize a secure long-term parking space for you on a private property directly at the port, subject to prior reservation.
Parking costs 60 euros per week and is payable locally on arrival. If you have arrived at the port by car, please ask one of the tour guides at the ships. There is no insurance in Croatia that insures your vehicle against theft and burglary in the parking spaces provided by us. Damage of this kind is only covered by the local comprehensive insurance. However, since the beginning of our travels (1998) we have not received any reports of damage.
Arrival by train
If you want to travel by train, please note that there is no direct train connection to Omisalj. However, there is a good connection with the night train from Munich to Rijeka. On the day of embarkation, a shared transfer from Rijeka train station to Omisalj can be booked. This only applies to the night train, which arrives in Rijeka around 9:30 a.m. A transfer bus will then be waiting at the train station (if reserved in advance) for the onward journey to Omisalj (approx. 45 minutes). A shared transfer from Omisalj to Rijeka can also be booked early in the morning on the day of disembarkation. The transfer price is on request.
Requirements
The tours are equally suitable for trekking cyclists and e-bike riders. When using a rental bike, the decision for an e-bike or trekking bike must be made before the start of the journey. The cycling stages require a certain level of fitness from the participants, which regular cyclists should have acquired. The routes go up between 400 and 700 meters. The daily stages of 30-60 km lead through hilly and mountainous terrain and are cycled without time constraints. Steeper or longer gradients can also be mastered, but pushing is definitely allowed. The tour guides will inform you in good time. Instead of a bike tour, you can also spend half or a whole day bathing on the ship.
The roads are mostly paved and rarely used outside of the holiday season.
Decide for yourself every day whether you want to cycle individually using maps or join one of the two travel companions. Helmets are compulsory on the bike tours. Please bring your own well fitting helmet. A limited number of rental helmets are available (reservation required).
Available rental bikes
There are 11-gear women's e-bikes with a low entry available. The bikes are each equipped with an Ortlieb pannier.
The trip is advertised as an e-bike tour and can therefore only be booked with an e-bike. If you arrive with your own bike, we ask you to bring an e-bike with you.
Catering
The accompanying cook is a member of the crew and prepares an extensive breakfast and one to two hot meals every day. Meals include 2 x full board and 5 x half board. Depending on the course of the tour, one or the other lunch meal can also consist of a packed lunch. The first meal begins with dinner on the day of embarkation and ends with breakfast on the day of disembarkation.
Discounts
If the cabins are occupied by three people, we grant a 50% discount on the basic travel price for the third person (only possible below deck). These cabins are equipped with a queen bed below and a single bunk above.
Children up to and including the age of 16 receive a discount of 25% on the basic travel price (cannot be combined with other discounts)
Children
Basically, we are of the opinion that only children with good stamina and a minimum age of 10 years can complete the bike tours on their own. Please note that rental bikes (trekking bikes) can only be provided from a height of 1.20 m.
Helmet obligation
Helmets are compulsory on our bike tours. Please bring your own well-fitting helmet. A limited number of rental helmets are available for adults (reservation required in advance!). Children's helmets must be brought along.
