Sporty Cycling Tours

There is once again a reason to celebrate at Velociped: Chris is celebrating 10 years with Velociped! Ten years ago, his journey at Velociped began in the reservations department. As an expert for our Main cycling tours, he was always on hand to advise our guests and answer all questions about cycling along the River Main. But his passion has always extended to technology, too. That is why he later moved to our workshop, where today he has become an indispensable part of the team. Chris knows our Velociped bikes down to the smallest detail, takes care of bike planning, maintenance and quality assurance, to ensure you a perfect travel experience. Cycling also plays a big role in Chris’s private life. As an enthusiastic road cyclist, he loves sporty challenges on two wheels – which is exactly why we are taking his anniversary as an opportunity to take a closer look at our sportiest tours.

River Cycle Routes & Alpine Passes Sporty Cycling Tours at a Glance

Sporty Cycling Along Rivers

If you enjoy longer daily stages but prefer to avoid demanding climbs, our major rivers offer ideal conditions. On selected tours along the Rhine, Moselle, Main or Danube, you can expect mostly flat routes with only a few metres of elevation gain, but with daily stages often covering around 70 kilometres or more. Perfect for anyone who wants to stay active, gather plenty of impressions and discover as much of a region as possible in a short time. These tours are especially suited to sporty leisure cyclists who enjoy covering plenty of kilometres while cycling comfortably on well-developed cycle paths.

Sporty Cycling Through Mountains & Vineyards

If you enjoy covering long distances as well as gaining a few metres in elevation, Velociped offers numerous tours with a varied route profile.

  • Main Active in the Spessart: This tour combines the idyllic river landscapes of the Main with the forested hills of the Spessart. Wide forest tracks, peaceful valleys and wonderful views make this tour a special experience for active cyclists.
  • Eifel Experience from Aachen to Trier: Following former railway lines and the popular Kylltal Cycle Route, you discover the varied landscapes of the Eifel. Gentle climbs, sweeping views and unspoilt nature reward every turn of the pedals.
  • Rhine Winegrowers’ Tour: If you love vineyards, this tour is the perfect choice. The route leads through no fewer than four wine regions and requires a little muscle power along the way. As a reward, you can look forward to stunning views, charming wine villages and several wine tastings along the route.

Sporty Cycling in Europe

Especially ambitious cyclists are often drawn to the mountains – and the Alps are particularly popular. Whether on the Alpe-Adria Cycle Route from Salzburg to Grado, from Munich to Merano or from Lake Constance to Lake Maggiore: anyone combining Germany with Italy can look forward to spectacular landscapes while also gaining quite a few metres in elevation along the way. Things can often become even more challenging along Europe’s coastlines. In Portugal, Croatia or Greece, hilly islands, steep coastal roads and magnificent sea views await. Here, the daily stages are often shorter, but numerous climbs provide a real sporty challenge. The reward? Breathtaking panoramas, crystal-blue water and the feeling that every view has truly been earned. For many guests, an e-bike is the perfect support on these tours.

Our conclusion

Our sporty cycling tours are designed for everyone who wants to discover a region in depth while spending a little more time in the saddle. Whether along major rivers, through vineyards and low mountain ranges, or on sunny coastal roads in Europe – those who enjoy active cycling are often rewarded with the most beautiful views.
