Enjoy your stay at the Moselle Valley, because it has so much to offer: millennial towns, romantic half-timbered towns, idyllic wineries, interesting castles and Roman ruins, and a lot more. You cycle on this bike tour every day between 49 and 77 km. Since the well-signposted Moselle cycle path is completely flat, you roll from one attraction to the next. Discover the typical Moselle cuisine: fresh zander from the Moselle, a fine wine cream as a dessert or the fruity peaches from the vineyards.

This trip is perfect for:

  • Short travelers: Fast on the road and still time for something special.
  • River romantics: Cycle along the beautiful Moselle through dreamy villages and beautiful towns.
  • Nature lovers: fall in love with the beautiful landscapes along the Moselle.

Highlights

Porta Nigra Trier
For the newly arrived guest, the Porta Nigra is the best place to begin a tour of Trier. The gate dates back to a time (about A.D. 180) when the Romans often erected public buildings of huge stone blocks (here, the biggest weigh up to six metric tons).

Imperial baths Trier
Going to the baths was an important part of Roman life: Over 1600 years ago, the Romans built one of the grandest and most impressive baths in the world: the Imperial baths. Today you can visit this gigantic bathing facility: go back in time to the Roman era, descend into the subterranean labyrinth and get a feel for history!

Amphitheater Trier
Beyond the medieval city wall lies the Roman Amphitheater. Cruel games with animal and gladiator combats were conducted here popular public entertainment.

Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier
The Rheinisches Landesmuseum in Trier is one of the most important archaeological museums in Germany. Unique and unmistakable is the extraordinary abundance and quality of the testimonies of the Roman period - the period in which the city of Trier has undeniably taken its most significant place in its history as the capital of the Roman province of Gallia Belgica and even more so as an imperial residence in the late Roman Empire. The museum also documents the history and cultural development of the entire region from prehistory to the end of the 18th century

Guided city walking tour Trier
Welcome to Trier, the oldest city in Germany! This romantic and historic city with its imposing buildings from the Roman era has a lot to offer! Marvel Trier with a worthwhile tour.

Bernkastel-Kues
Bernkastel-Kues is a well-known wine culture center on the Middle Moselle. The town is a state-approved health resort. Worth seeing in Bernkastel is the medieval market square with its gabled half-timbered houses from the 17th century, among which the narrow pointed house dating back to 1416 stands out in particular.

Cochem Imperial Castle
Cochem Imperial Castle is a castle complex in the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Cochem on the Moselle. It is the town's landmark and stands on a mountain cone more than 100 meters above the town, visible from afar.

Boating on the Moselle
From its source at the Col de Bussang in the Vosges to its mouth at the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, the Moselle covers a total distance of 520 kilometers - the distance as the crow flies between the source and the mouth is only 278 kilometers - and overcomes a gradient of 676 meters in altitude. A boat trip on the Moselle is a relaxing way to shorten a longer day's stage and enjoy the beauty of the landscape from a different perspective.

tour

You should take your time for the visit of the historical centre, the Imperial thermal baths and the Porta Nigra.

You cycle past the old ferry tower Schweich to Mehring. Marvel at the ruins of Villa Rustica - an old country house from the Roman Empire - and the many vine-covered wineries. Discover Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine village in Germany and the world-famous Roman wine ship, a historic stone relief. Cafes and wine bars invite you to a stop before you cycle on to Bernkastel-Kues. Enjoy Bernkastel-Kues` historic market square. Centuries-old half-timbered houses, the Renaissance town hall and the almost legendary Spitzhäuschen want to be discovered.

Directly at the Moselle you pass the cosy wine village of Zeltingen to Traben-Trarbach. The flair of the city and the fascinating architecture of Art Nouveau and the Belle Epoque will inspire you. After a worthwhile break, you cycle to Enkirch, the jewel of half-timbered architecture. Near Bullay you will discover the steel bridge, which is still unique in Germany. Look forward to the small but wildly romantic town of Beilstein with only 160 inhabitants, its current overnight destination. Many guests consider Beilstein to be the most beautiful and romantic place on the Moselle an has the nickname "Rothenburg an der Mosel". During a stroll through the narrow streets, it quickly becomes clear why the place has already served as a film backdrop for numerous films. In the evening you will arrive Cochem with a beautiful centre an the old Reichsburg.

On your way further, you can make detour (+ 4 km) to the medieval castle Eltz, one of the most beautiful and best preserved castles in Germany. Through the historic wine village of Kobern Gondorf as well as through the pretty wine village of Winningen, which is one of the most beautiful villages in Germany, you cycle through the slowly widening Moselle valley towards the mouth of the Rhine. Enjoy the wide view of the Rhine Valley here at the Deutsches Eck before enjoying a nice evening in Koblenz.

After breakfast your cycle holiday ends in Koblenz. We recommend our back transfer to Trier (departure 9 am, duration about 2 hours - please book in advance).
