To start your cycling holiday, enjoy a varied round tour through the unique landscape around Bernkastel-Kues. First, follow the Moselle Cycle Route towards Wolf. From there, the route climbs into the forests of the Hunsrück and across the heights of the Graacher Schäferei to the historic Graacher Schanzen. Along the way, impressive panoramic views open up over the Moselle Valley and the surrounding hills. The Graacher Schanzen, remnants of former defensive fortifications, offer a fascinating glimpse into the region’s eventful history. You then return to Bernkastel-Kues at a relaxed pace along the Moselle, passing through Wolf, Lösnich, Zeltingen-Rachtig and Graach.

Today, a very special cycling experience awaits you: the Maare-Moselle Cycle Route! First, take the biker bus comfortably up into the Volcanic Eifel to Daun. From there, you cycle mostly downhill back towards the Moselle. Following a former railway line, the route leads through a fascinating landscape of deep forests, cool tunnels, impressive viaducts and numerous bridges. Passing extinct volcanoes and the famous Maare of the Eifel, you experience a varied transition from the rugged Volcanic Eifel to the gentle vineyard landscape of the Moselle. Numerous places to stop for refreshments along the way invite you to take a relaxing break before you finally return to Bernkastel-Kues.

This leisurely and varied round tour takes you through the former County of Veldenz, one of the most beautiful side valleys of the Moselle. From Bernkastel-Kues, you first cycle to Mülheim before continuing through vineyards and idyllic countryside towards Veldenz. A view of the former Veldenz Castle recalls the fascinating history and former importance of the county. The route then leads to the picturesque village of Burgen, which, with its numerous bridges, is affectionately known as the “Little Venice of the Moselle”. From here, you cycle via Brauneberg and follow the Moselle Cycle Route back to Mülheim and Bernkastel-Kues at a relaxed pace. A wonderful tour for anyone looking to combine leisurely cycling, beautiful vineyard scenery and charming Moselle villages.

To round off your cycling holiday, a particularly scenic tour awaits. The route initially takes you through a former glacial valley of the Moselle before climbing to the hills above the river. From here, you can enjoy magnificent views across the Moselle Valley, its vineyards and charming wine villages. Passing the famous “Brauneberger Juffer” vineyard, you continue towards Piesport. Along the way, there are plenty of sights and viewpoints to discover, including the “Most Beautiful Wine View of the Moselle”, historic churches, an ancient Roman wine press and the so-called Moselle Loreley. For the return journey, you cycle leisurely downstream along the Moselle. With its combination of panoramic hilltop routes, vineyard landscapes and relaxed riverside cycling, this varied round tour is particularly well suited to e-bikers, while sporty cyclists will also find plenty to enjoy.

Arrival by train
The nearest train stations are located in Wittlich, Traben-Trarbach, Trier and Koblenz. From there, bus connections are available to Bernkastel-Kues. The main transport hub is the Kues Forum bus stop, from where your hotel is just a few minutes’ walk away. Regular bus services also stop directly at the hotel, including connections towards Wittlich, Daun, Traben-Trarbach, Neumagen-Dhron and Veldenz. Parking facilities at the arrival location
Parking spaces and an EV charging station are available at the JUFA Hotel for a fee (approx. €3.00 per day). You will receive detailed information about the parking options at the hotel booked for you with the detailed travel documents two weeks before the start of your journey.

Condition of cycle paths
The quality of the bike tail is very good. There are practical no unpaved or poorly developed path. The route runs almost exclusively on paved roads and is very well signposted. Some of the tours also lead into the Moselle’s side valleys and include a number of climbs. We therefore recommend using an e-bike for a more comfortable cycling experience.

Extra costs which are not included in the travel price
Any tourist tax not listed in the included services, charging fees for bicycle batteries and the Radlerbus (biker bus) for the Maare-Mosel cycle path Bernkastel-Kues - Daun (approx €22.00) are not included in the tour price and must therefore be paid at the hotel.

Passport and visa requirements
For EU citizens, there are no special passport or visa requirements and no health formalities to be considered for this trip.

Travel insurance
The tour price already includes the statutory insolvency insurance. In addition, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance upon receipt of your travel confirmation in order to protect yourself against financial disadvantages in the event of travel cancellation, interruption of travel, illness or accident.

Sustainability

With the 29-Days-Flex-Option, you can enjoy greater flexibility when planning your trip: You may cancel or rebook your trip free of charge up to 29 days before arrival. The option is available for a one-time fee of €39.00 per person, can only be added on the day of booking, and must be taken out for all travellers included in the booking. It is not possible to purchase the option for individual travellers only. This gives you added security and maximum flexibility when planning your holiday.
