Highlights

Fairytale Lohr
You didn't know that Snow White was from Lohr
“The talking mirror - father, mother, stepmother and Snow White - the wild forest and the youngling - the dwarves and the mountains - the glass coffin - the iron slippers, all the fixed points of the fairy tale “Snow White” can be proven with facts, dates and locations; with the scientific methods of fabulology, it could be proven that our fairy tale took place between Lohr and Bieber in the Spessart, that Snow White was actually a Lohr woman ...”

Wertheim
Located in southwestern Germany, the town of Wertheim-am-Main is located along the banks of the Main River, where it meets the River Tauber. With a population of just over 24,000 inhabitants, Wertheim is a picturesque, medieval German city that is perfectly suited to arriving river cruise passengers.

Wertheim Castle
The castle is owned by the town of Wertheim and is a popular excursion destination. From the keep, you can enjoy the view of the river landscapes of the Main and Tauber and the foothills of the Spessart and Odenwald are close enough to touch.

Aschaffenburg
Whatever the season Aschaffenburg is always worth a visit, whether for the magnolia blossom in spring, for Pompeiianum Palace in summer, for Bavaria's oldest English landscaped park in autumn, or for the works of Cranach, Grünewald, Kirchner and Schad in winter. And with Aschaffenburg being a compact town, you can discover its many sights on foot.

Johannisburg Castle Aschaffenburg
Schloss Johannisburg, the second residence of the Mainz elector bishops until 1803, is located in the center of Aschaffenburg on the banks of the Main River. after the severe destruction of the Second World War, the exterior of the castle first had to be restored before the first showrooms and collections with the salvaged furnishings could be reopened in 1964.

Individual arrival in Lohr, the gateway to the Spessart. Known for its romantic old town and numerous half-timbered houses, it is worth arriving early - a stroll through the winding streets is a great way to start your eventful cycling tour.

In the morning, you will set off refreshed on the well-developed and paved cycle path to Karlstadt, where you can learn interesting facts about the picturesque old town with its medieval walls, towers and alleys on an open city tour (not included) - experience history. On the way back, a mixture of the Main Cycle Path, paved agricultural roads and gravel forest paths await you - the magnificent view over the Franconian Plateau and the descent from Maria Buchen are well worth it!

Immerse yourself in the idyllic tranquillity of the Lohr Valley and cycle along wide, gently winding forest paths, accompanied by the Lohrbach stream and surrounded by lush green forests. An insider tip for culture enthusiasts and nature lovers - the charming village of Partenstein with its historic castle ruins. In Frammersbach, recharge your batteries in cosy inns for the relaxed return trip to Lohr.

Look forward to a scenic stage, accompanied by forests, meadows and vineyards.
Today, you will once again cycle above the Main loops and, in addition to the impressive landscape of the Spessart-Mainland, you will also discover charming historical towns such as Ansbach and Karbach. Lohr is easily accessible from all major cities in Germany by train. We recommend to take a taxi from the station to get to our partner hotels in Bamberg. Current schedule information and price information can be found at: www.bahn.de.

Parking at your destination
Our partner hotels in Lohr do not usually offer parking for the duration of your trip. You can park in public car parks from around €6.00 per day. There is a large free public car park on Mainlände and Seeweg.
You will receive detailed information about parking options at your booked hotel with your detailed travel documents two weeks before the start of your trip.

Condition of cycle paths
As Germany's first bike route the Main bike trail got awarded with five stars by ADFC in 2008. Important criteria for this award were the almost universal asphalting and the nearly traffic-free routes. The specially signposted cycle track runs mostly every time directly at the Main riverside and is without significant gradients.

Transfer back to the starting point of the journey
Every Wednesday at 9 a.m., you can take a minibus (with bike trailer) back to Lohr (arrival there at around 10 a.m.). The driver will come to your hotel and has space for you, your luggage and, if necessary, your private bike. He will drive you back to your starting hotel, providing a perfect return service without the hassle of changing trains or lugging suitcases. An additional fee is charged for transporting your own bikes.

Extra costs which are not included in the tour price
Any tourist tax and charging fees for bicycle batteries are not included in the tour price and must therefore be paid at the hotel.

7 day hotline service
Just in case the bike chain breaks, flooding makes it impossible to continue your tour or any other nasty surprise: You can reach us seven days a week and we will do anything to help you as fast as possible.

Passport and visa requirements
For EU citizens, there are no special passport or visa requirements and no health formalities to be considered for this trip.

Travel insurance
The tour price already includes the statutory insolvency insurance. In addition, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance upon receipt of your travel confirmation in order to protect yourself against financial disadvantages in the event of travel cancellation, interruption of travel, illness or accident.

For this trip, we recommend using digital travel documents in the spirit of sustainability. However, you can still select printed travel documents with a cycling map during the booking process if you wish. Please note that prices may vary depending on your selection.

7 speed bike

We would recommend the 7-speed tourer for all those that are looking for a back-pedal brake and wide gel seat for maximum comfort in an upright sitting position. It is equipped with a simple hub gear shift and is perfectly suited to tours on flat to slightly hilly terrain.

27 speed bike

The 27-speed tourer is the best choice for cyclists that value the advantages of the dérailleur gear shift for flexibility whilst going up and down hills. This bike allows you to be a little more active without compromising on saddle comfort and practical everyday suitability.

Velociped E-Bike

E-bikes combine a lot of advantages. The electric drive ensures a completely relaxed cycling, even during long tours or on hilly routes. Other features, such as a suspension seat post and front fork plus well-tuned gears, ensure additional riding comfort.

On this trip, you can choose between e-bikes with a back-pedal brake or a freewheel. The e-bikes with a freewheel also offer you excellent riding comfort with a suspension seat post and front fork. Please simply indicate your preference when booking.
