Lisbon - Sagres

A beautiful bike path takes you along the Tagus River to the port. After a short ferry ride across the wide river you reach Seixal. From here you will cross the peninsula in a southerly direction and marvel at the first impressive rock formations in the Arrábida Nature Park. Breathtaking views of the coast alternate with beautiful bathing bays. Your destination today is Setúbal, where already in the 16th century the Lisbon  nobility had their palaces and country houses built.

In the morning you will take a ferry through the nature reserve at the mouth of the Sado River. If you are lucky, you can even watch dolphins during the crossing. The day's stage starts on the Troia Peninsula with its beautiful beaches and special landscapes. So you are probably surprised by the rice fields, which you would not expect in this region - certainly a special sight. You will continue cycling past great sandy beaches with crystal clear water, lush flower fields and lush green vineyards. Typical and especially charming are the villages with whitewashed houses. In Sines you can stroll along the promenade, visit the castle or simply enjoy the leisurely hustle and bustle of the city.

One of the most natural stretches of coastline in Europe, the Costa Vicentina Nature Park, will delight you with many impressions. Breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean, wonderful beaches, small harbors and authentic fishing villages will always tempt you to take a short break. In the evening, enjoy the flair of the coastal town of Vila Nova de Mil Fontes. Here, too, a fantastic sandy beach lies directly at your feet.

You continue cycling through the beautiful Costa Vicentina Nature Park with its diverse flora and fauna. Impressive high cliffs characterize today's bike tour and the refreshing Atlantic wind blows around your nose. You will spend the night in the village of Aljezur, a few kilometers from the coast, and discover the rural architecture of these villages typical of the area. Above the village towers the historic small castle with a beautiful view over the fertile land.

You will experience a unique highlight on your last stage. Through the special coastal landscape you will cycle to Cape St. Vincent, the southwesternmost tip of Europe with its famous lighthouse and the "Last Bratwurst before America". It is a special experience to pose here with the bike for a selfie. Sagres is now only a few kilometers away. With its rich cultural heritage, the town is one of the most important in the Algarve. Particularly spectacular here are the towering cliffs that frame the idyllic sandy beaches.
