Tour
Explore the coastal town with its impressive fortress or enjoy the nearby beaches.
The first cycle tour takes you to the famous lighthouse at Cape St Vincent, the most south-westerly point in Europe. From the cliffs jutting vertically out of the Atlantic, you have a spectacular view over the sea. You cycle over gentle hills to the fishing village of Salema and to Burgau Beach. You will be impressed by the famous Ponta da Piedade at the gates of Lagos, a wonderful natural experience and one of the most famous postcard motifs of the Algarve. End the day with a good glass of wine in the lively harbour town of Lagos.
Today, the beach of Meia offers you the first opportunity to take a dip in the refreshing sea. Observe countless shell collectors in search of delicacies here at low tide. In Odiáxere, it is worth visiting the 16th century church. In Alvor, stroll through the Morabito de São Pedro city market and the narrow streets of the old town. Treat yourself to a break in a typical restaurant with freshly caught fish. Along the coast there are fantastic views of the sea. Linger at the beautiful sandy beach Praia da Rocha before arriving comfortably at your overnight destination Portimao in the afternoon.
Along the Arade River you cycle to the village of Ferragudo with its beautiful church and magnificent views over the estuary. Olive, cypress, orange, fig and cork oak trees accompany your way to Lagoa. There you can taste traditional Portuguese pastries and visit the chapel of Senhora da Rocha, situated on a rocky outcrop above the sea. Extensive sandy beaches accompany you on your way to Albufeira, one of the most famous holiday resorts in the Algarve.
In the fishing village of Olhos de Água, there is a beautiful beach where you can take a break. In Vilamoura, you will pass one of the largest marinas in the country and then cycle through pine forests towards the Ria Formosa Nature Park, one of the seven natural wonders of Portugal. In the distance, Faro, the capital of the Algarve, comes into view. Discover the famous old town with its nice restaurants and lively alleys.
On the cycle path through the Ria Formosa Nature Park, with the offshore islands in view, the few clouds are reflected in the salt lakes. In Olhão, you can take a coffee break at the bustling market before cycling leisurely on to the fishing village of Fuseta with its typical white houses. Today's cycling stage ends on the Roman bridge in the city centre of Tavira. Enjoy the evening in one of the most beautiful and typical towns of the Algarve.
The Ria Formosa Nature Park with its lagoons is your companion today as well. You cycle through the pine forest on the beach of Monte Gordo and the dune forest of Vila Real de Santo António to the border between Portugal and Spain. You follow the border river Guadiana northwards for a while before cycling over gentle hills past orange and olive groves back towards Tavira. At the latest now you should toast to a successful and very eventful cycling tour.
Your cycling tour in the Algarve ends after breakfast. We are happy to book extra nights for you, so you can extend your time in the Algarve.
