tour highlights
Lake Garda
The Lake Garda Region is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and impressive natural regions in Europe. The sight of the lake alone to Goethe was worth a detour. The mild climate, the lush mediterranean vegetation and picturesque villages in front of an impressive mountain landscape, which then changes into a gentle hilly landscape covered with wine and olive trees - all this is simply the epitome of romantic Italy, the "country in where the lemons bloom." The continually moving glaciers around 10,000 years ago created the largest Italian lake. The lake covers an area of 370 km², is 52 km long and has a width of 4 km in the north and about 17 km in the south.
Desenzano
With its approximately 20,000 inhabitants, Desenzano is the largest city on the lake and far less dominated by tourism than the neighboring cities. Around the port and in the old town beautifully restored commercial houses attest to the long tradition of Desenzano as one of the most important commercial centers of Upper Italy.
Sirmione
A wide moat divides Sirmione's traffic-calmed old town from the mainland, which narrowly stretches four kilometers into Lake Garda and makes the much-visited town in the truest sense of the word the icing on the cake of the southern lakeside. Next to the only bridge, there is a beautiful water castle and the romantic, colorful old town makes dreams of Italy come true. To the north, the park-like top of the island invites you to an idyllic walk with a charming lake view.
Bardolino
Enjoy the urban atmosphere of the old town with its wide streets, numerous shops and long promenade that invites you to stroll. Taste a delicious wine that is grown in the hilly hinterland of the former fishing village. In the inland of Bardolino, surrounded by picturesque vineyards and olive groves, there are numerous wineries and oil mills that sell their products directly, offer wine and oil tasting and sometimes have small museums.
Torbole
Take a stroll through the beautiful old village center with its winding streets and corners. Stroll past the small port with the typical buildings of the Vecchia Dogana and Casa Breust, the main square and the customs house (Casetta del Dazio). Torbole has developed into an international center for windsurfing and sailing. But hikers, climbers and mountain bikers will also find a wide range of activities around the village.
Saló
Sheltered in a narrow bay on the south-west of Lake Garda lies the elegant and lively Salò. The old town with a narrow pedestrian zone and many small boutiques of well-known Italian designers stretches behind the long, magnificent promenade. Excellent fish specialties are served in numerous cozy restaurants.
