MS Prinzessin Katharina

The MS Princess Katharina was renovated in 2015 and impresses with classic elegance, a friendly crew and a decent interior. After a nice day of cycling, let yourself be pampered by the good cuisine in the panoramic restaurant and end the day in the cosy lounge or bar. A book corner, a small shop and a massage salon complete the offer. The spacious, partly covered sun deck has plenty of sun loungers for you. The 70 outdoor cabins (approx. 11 m²) for up to 140 passengers are equipped with shower/WC, hairdryer, air conditioning,
TV, on-board radio, telephone and a small fridge. On the upper deck there are 29 twin cabins and 2 single cabins with French balcony with floor-to-ceiling windows to open. The cabins are equipped with a sofa bed and a pullman bed (stowed during the day). On the main deck there are 28 twin cabins and 1 single cabin. In the twin cabins you sleep in two sofa beds, which are placed over the corner. The panoramic windows in the main deck cabins are not to be opened.

Tour
Please plan your arrival in such a way that you will be able to board at the appropriate time of embarkation (4 to 5 p. m. ). In the afternoon, take a stroll through the old episcopal city of Passau, which is nestled between Inn, Ilz and Danube on the Bavarian/Austrian border. Around 7 p. m. the leash starts and the MS Princess Katharina leaves Passau to drive to Engelhartszell.
In Engelhartszell (the only Trappist monastery in Austria) the first cycle tour begins. Deeply cut and framed by wooded slopes, the Danube winds through a truly unique river landscape with the Danube loop as its highlight. In Aschach you board again and sail towards the sunset.
In the morning you reach Wien-Nussdorf. Today you have plenty of time to discover the beauties of Vienna: the Hofburg, St. Stephen's Cathedral, the magnificent boulevard Ringstraße with the State Opera, Burgtheater and Town Hall, or the famous Prater amusement park? There is truly enough to see! In the night boat trip to Budapest.
Early risers can enjoy a fantastic view of the majestic landscape of the Danube Bend and the breathtaking panorama of Budapest, especially from the boat. Once you arrive in Budapest, you have the choice. You can visit the countless sights of Budapest (Parliament, Gellert Hill, Heroes' Square, Market Hall, Chain Bridge. . . ) or take a bike trip to the small artists' town of Szentendre with its lovingly restored old town, numerous churches and art galleries. At night the ship then continues to Visegrad.
The bike tour through the deeply cut river bend of the Danube Bend is also an excursion into the history of Hungary. From the former royal residence of Visegrad you cycle through the picturesque, gently hilly countryside over the Szentendre peninsula to the baroque town of Vác. After a visit to the only triumphal arch of Hungary, we head back to Visegrad via small Hungarian villages. In Visegrad we board again and the ship departs towards Bratislava.
In the morning you will reach Bratislava. In Bratislava, it is worth taking the classic train through the enchanting old town and up to the castle. Enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the capital of Slovakia from the Bratislava Castle. At night the ship leaves Bratislava and sails up the Danube into the beautiful Wachau.
2025: As an alternative you may explore the surroundings of Bratislava during a guided bike tour along the Danube.
The gentle hilly landscape of the Wachau, characterized by dreamy villages, vineyards, castles, monasteries and ruins has enchanted everyone. Above the baroque town of Dürnstein is the blue tower of the Collegiate Church, a symbol of the Wachau. In the afternoon you will reach the imposing Melk Abbey, one of the most important baroque buildings in Austria. In Pöchlarn we go back on board. A festive farewell dinner awaits you in the evening. At night the MS Princess Katharina drives back to Passau.
After a week full of great impressions, you reach Passau relaxed and rested around 11:00 a. m. After disembarkation you begin the individual journey home.
The planned route is always subject to possible changes due to nautical, meteorological or organisational reasons. If, for example, a route cannot be travelled due to low water, high water, bad weather or construction work, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety. This is not a legally valid reason for cancelling the trip free of charge. The same applies in the event of officially ordered lock or bridge repairs or in the event of engine or propulsion damage to the ship through no fault of the captain.
As your ship usually sails to the next harbour on the same day, your time frame for your own activities and sightseeing is limited. On some bridges, the clearance height is so low that the sun deck is closed for your safety.
