Tour

You will arrive in Engelhartszell, where the MS Prinzessin Katharina will welcome you on board between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Use the time in Engelhartszell to take a stroll through the village and visit the Engelszell Abbey Church with its magnificent Rococo interior.

Cycle downstream from Engelhartszell along the former Treppelweg trail. A highlight of your day's stage is sure to be the trip on the small ferry (approx. € 7.00 per person) through the Schlögener Schlinge. Enjoy this natural spectacle, where the Danube changes direction twice by about 180 degrees and flows in an S-curve. In Aschach, the MS Prinzessin Katharina awaits you. Enjoy the following boat trip on the Danube, which will take you to the center of Linz. In Linz, look forward to the bright yellow Cityexpress, which is the best way to get to know this interesting city. In the late evening, you will continue by boat to Tulln.

Look forward to today's bike tour to Vienna, which promises a few more exciting experiences. Just outside Vienna, you will visit Klosterneuburg Abbey. The dome of this magnificent 900-year-old Baroque building is visible from afar. Marvel at the “Verdun Altar” inside the abbey, one of the highlights of medieval goldsmithing. From the wine village of Kahlenbergerdorf, we recommend a short hike through the vineyards to the viewing terrace of the Kahlenberg. Enjoy the beautiful view of Vienna before getting to know the Austrian capital on a city tour or a sightseeing tour (optional).

Today, you can explore the countless sights of the Danube metropolis: perhaps St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Hofburg, the magnificent Ringstrasse boulevard with the Burgtheater, State Opera, and City Hall? There are countless possibilities. Be sure to leave enough time to stroll around or visit one of Vienna's famous cafés. At night, your ship will sail to Krems in the Wachau region.

A highlight of your cycling and boating vacation on the Danube awaits you today. You will cycle through a gentle hilly landscape with dreamy villages, vineyard terraces, castles, monasteries, and ruins. The blue tower of the collegiate church in Dürnstein is another landmark of the Wachau region, and in Weisenkirchen, cozy wine taverns right next to the bike path invite you to sample the local wines. In Melk, the magnificent Benedictine abbey towers over the Danube. Take the afternoon to explore this place steeped in history and culture.

Today's stage takes you through the fascinating landscape of the “wild Strudengau.” Be impressed by the beautiful, densely wooded valley of the Danube. This narrow section of the river was once feared by sailors. Today, you cycle along the well-developed Danube Cycle Path to Grein. This pretty town welcomes you with many charming Baroque facades in the town center and Austria's oldest municipal theater. A visit to Austria's oldest residential castle, Greinburg Castle (only possible as part of the optional excursion), also beckons with its exceptionally diverse state rooms from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque periods.

Today you will set off on a beautiful, easy bike ride along the Danube to Mauthausen. Cyclists interested in history should definitely visit the Celtic village in the market town of Mitterkirchen along the way. In Mauthausen, you can visit the concentration camp memorial—a place of quiet remembrance. At the end of the trip, the captain will welcome you aboard for a festive farewell dinner.
During the night, the MS Prinzessin Katharina will take you back to Engelhartszell.

Enjoy the first rays of sunshine and the morning tranquility of the Danube Valley on deck one last time. At around 9:00 a.m., the MS Prinzessin Katharina arrives in Engelhartszell, where your bike and boat tour on the Danube comes to an end. We recommend booking train connections from Passau from around 12:00 noon.

The planned route is always subject to possible changes due to nautical, meteorological or organisational reasons. If, for example, a route cannot be travelled due to low water, high water, bad weather or construction work, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety. This is not a legally valid reason for cancelling the trip free of charge. The same applies in the event of officially ordered lock or bridge repairs or in the event of engine or propulsion damage to the ship through no fault of the captain.

As your ship usually sails to the next harbour on the same day, your time frame for your own activities and sightseeing is limited. On some bridges, the clearance height is so low that the sun deck is closed for your safety.
