From Fulda and Werra to the North Sea

The Weser Cycle Route, well fed by its source rivers Fulda and Werra, runs for over 510 km to Cuxhaven on the North Sea and is one of the most popular cycle routes in Germany.
The cycle route passes through a region that could hardly be more diverse. At the beginning, the Weser winds its way through the hills of the Weserbergland region with its impressive castles, palaces and interesting half-timbered towns. Look forward to visiting the Benedictine monastery in Bursfelde, Corvey Abbey, Bevern Castle and Hämelschenburg Castle. Visit Bad Karlshafen, the Pied Piper town of Hamelin, Rinteln and the sophisticated Bad Oeynhausen. Through the Porta Westfalica, the cycle path squeezes its way into the wide land of the North German Plain. On your cycle tours, you will now cycle through the lush green of the meadows and the bright red of the pretty brick buildings. Through impressive marsh and moorland landscapes with picturesque windmills and watermills, the Weser Cycle Route takes you via Nienburg and Verden to the Hanseatic city of Bremen, which boasts a historic old town and Roland statue. You then cycle through the Weser marshlands to Bremerhaven, where the Weser flows into the North Sea. Look forward to another 55 km of cycle paths that lead fantastically along the German Bight with a view of the Wadden Sea National Park to Cuxhaven. Dykes, windmills, thatched houses, sheep and seagulls accompany you on this section of your cycle tour. Overall, the Weser Cycle Route runs on quiet country roads, field paths and separate cycle paths.
