From the Black Forest to Heidelberg

The Neckar Cycle Route, approximately 370 kilometres long, begins at the source near Villingen-Schwenningen in the Black Forest and takes you to the romantic university town of Heidelberg. The cycle route first leads through the Neckar Valley to the pretty university town of Tübingen. Enjoy the beautiful wine country of Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany on the following route. Passing the Hundertwasser Regenturm, you will discover Stuttgart with its residential palace and Mercedes-Benz Museum, as well as Ludwigsburg. The Neckar Cycle Route mostly runs along quiet country roads and separate cycle paths, but there are a few short sections with heavy traffic. Look forward to Marbach with the Schiller National Museum, Neckarsulm, Bad Wimpfen and Neckargemünd, before the cycle path takes you to the centre of Heidelberg with its majestic castle complex. As the Neckar Cycle Route does not run continuously close to the river in the valley, slight inclines are unavoidable, but you will be rewarded with wonderful descents.
