Tour
You should plan your trip well in advance, because Geneva has a lot to offer. Enjoy your stay at Geneva Harbor with its famous water fountain and discover the charming old town of this “smallest metropolis in the world.” Geneva presents itself as open, cultured, and full of lively atmosphere.
You leave Geneva behind and follow the Rhône through the Défilé de l'Écluse, a narrow passage where the river winds its way impressively between the mountains. Soon you will be accompanied by the first vineyards, while the peaks of the Savoy Alps and Mont Blanc appear repeatedly on the horizon. Your destination for the day is Seyssel, where two characteristic suspension bridges connect the banks and small squares of this picturesque village.
On both sides of the Rhône, the vineyards rise impressively steeply, while you relax on the flat riverside path and take in the landscape. A stopover in Chanaz is highly recommended - the historic buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries and the small restaurants on the canal bank give the place a special charm. The Rhône then branches off, and you follow the western arm of the river, which takes you on to Champagneux.
Today, your route takes you along quiet country roads up to the Rochefort viewing platform. Passing the Château de Mandrin, you cycle through vast orchards and enjoy the magnificent panorama. After returning to the hotel, you can relax on the sun terrace, unwind in the indoor pool, or treat yourself to French delicacies in the renowned restaurant.
Along the banks of the Rhône, the cycle path takes you through the gentle border region between Ain and Isère. At Perrozan, you leave the river and continue through small, medieval-looking villages until you reach your destination for the day: the romantic mountain village of Pérouges. With its wonderfully preserved historic center, it is one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Today's round trip takes you right into the heart of the unique pond landscape of the Dombes, a region known for its tranquil waters, diverse bird life, and harmonious expanse. You will first cycle along quiet paths to the impressive Notre-Dame Abbey, whose peaceful atmosphere invites you to take a short break. You then continue your journey through the characteristic lake landscape until you reach Villars-les-Dombes, a cozy village located in the heart of this special natural region. A stage full of tranquility, nature, and gentle impressions.
Cycle along quiet paths through green meadows and wide fields back to the Rhône, which then accompanies you on an excellently constructed cycle path to the center of Lyon. The old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998, impresses with its historic alleys, Renaissance buildings, and lively squares. Enjoy a delightful end to your last evening in one of the many excellent restaurants for which Lyon, the capital of French cuisine, is famous.
Unfortunately, your cycling tour along the Rhône ends with a final breakfast at the hotel. We would be happy to book additional nights in Lyon for you.
