Trogir

Split

Split is the largest city in southern Croatia and is considered to be the "capital of Dalmatia". The range of sights is great, so the city center and the Diocletian Palace has been a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage since 1979. The heart of the city is the Old Town, which is located on the south coast of the peninsula of Split. The Riva, a famous landmark of the city, can be found right by the sea.

The wooden motor yacht San Snova was launched in spring 2009 exclusively for the island hopping cruises. The 14 comfortably furnished guest cabins have a tasteful interior as well as air conditioning, shower/toilet and hair dryer. The wood-panelled saloon exudes a cozy atmosphere, which is underlined by the high-quality

wooden furniture on the outer decks and a spacious sunbathing area on the sun deck. The crew of the San Snova attaches great importance to a sparkling clean appearance of the ship and genuine cordiality on board. Come on board and enjoy the incomparable atmosphere of this special wooden ship.

Tour

The journey takes place individually either by car to Trogir or by plane to Split Airport, which is around 6 km from Trogir embarkation port. After checking in by the cordial crew of MS San Snova between 2PM. and 2:30PM, the first cruise that takes you from Trogir to Šolta begins around 3PM. Here you can end the day with a wonderful swim in the Adriatic Sea.

In the morning the crossing to the island of Vis awaits you. This Croatian island has a long history. Already 2300 years ago it was known as a Greek colony under the name of Issa. The island was only opened to foreign tourists in 1995, because its strategically favorable location meant that it had been a restricted military area until then. Today's bike tour takes you across this lovely island, where you will also spend the night in the harbour.

Let the wind blow in your face during the morning crossing to Vela Luka on the island of Korčula. On the way, if the weather is good, you will stop for a swim in a beautiful bay. Your cycling tour will take you past lush gardens with tall cypress trees, through the village of Blato, built on seven hills like Rome, and back to Vela Luka.

In the morning you cross over to the island of Hvar. In the island's capital of the same name, Hvar, you will have the opportunity to visit the magnificent Renaissance square and gaze at the Spanish fortresses towering over the town. The subsequent bike tour takes you over a pass road with fantastic views of the other side of the island to the natural harbor of Stari Grad.
Another bike tour is on the program for the afternoon: You will visit the picturesque ports of Jelsa and Vrboska, cycle through the famous wine-growing region on the "Stari Grader Fel" and follow the coastal road that meanders along idyllic bays.

Morning crossing to the island of Brač, famous for its brilliant white limestone, which was used for the White House in Washington and the Reichstag in Berlin, among other things. Your bike tour will take you from the picturesque Milna to Postira. Your bike tour takes you through small villages inland before returning to the coast and enjoying the spectacular views over the sea. Spend the evening in the tranquil port of Postira.

During breakfast the ship will take you to Split. Today you have the choice between another bike tour or rafting on the Cetina. If you opt for the varied rafting tour, a transfer bus will pick you up from the ship. The rafting tour (not included in the travel price) is a special nature experience and takes place with trained guides. After this adventure, the transfer will take you back to the ship. In the afternoon you have time to explore Omiš with its pirate castles on foot or to go swimming on the nearby beach. Overnight in Omiš. Cyclists take a short but panoramic tour to the green heart of the city of Split - Marjan Hill. You will then have the opportunity to cool off with a swim at the beach.
In the afternoon, explore Spilt on a guided tour of the picturesque Old Town, which was built into the famous palace of Roman Emperor Diocletian.

On Šolta you start your last bike tour in the morning. Walled fields, numerous olive groves, carob and fig trees line the road. The spicy smell of rosemary accompanies you on your journey across this quiet island. After a tour of the island, return to the ship to Rogač. Then enjoy the last crossing back to Trogir, where there is still enough time to visit the old town, which is a World Heritage Site. Afterwards, let your eventful journey come to an end with a cozy dinner and final evening on board.

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Dalmatia/Croatia.

The planned route is always subject to possible changes due to nautical, meteorological or organisational reasons. If, for example, a route cannot be travelled due to low water, high water, bad weather or construction work, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety. This is not a legally valid reason for cancelling the trip free of charge. The same applies in the event of officially ordered lock or bridge repairs or in the event of engine or propulsion damage to the ship through no fault of the captain.

As your ship usually sails to the next harbour on the same day, your time frame for your own activities and sightseeing is limited. On some bridges, the clearance height is so low that the sun deck is closed for your safety.

Worth knowing about the Southern Dalmatia bike cruise with San Snova

Please find more information about the Southern Dalmatia bike cruise below. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us by phone: 0049 - (0)6421 - 886890.

Arrival by plane

Arriving by plane is the fastest, cheapest and most comfortable way to get to Trogir. The nearest airport is Split (SPU). It is only 6 km away from the port in Trogir. To get from Split airport to the port in Trogir, we recommend using a taxi.

If you cannot find a suitable flight to Split, you have the option of flying to Dubrovnik or Zadar as an alternative.

Arrival by car

Munich - Salzburg (130 km), Salzburg - Villach (180 km), Villach - Ljubljana (100 km), Ljubljana - Rijeka (130 km): Motorway behind Ljubljana to the Kozina exit, then continue on the country road to Rijeka. From Rijeka to Trogir: along the main road to Senj, there turn towards the motorway to Split (300 km, approx. 5 hours).

Parking options in Trogir:

In Trogir, we will be happy to organize a secure parking space for you on a private property near the port upon prior notification. Price on request, payable locally upon arrival. Please reserve the parking space in good time before you start your journey. Please note: There is no insurance in Croatia that insures your vehicle against theft and burglary in the parking spaces provided by us. Damage of this kind is only covered by the local comprehensive insurance. If you have booked a parking space, ask one of the tour guides at the ships when you arrive. He will guide you to a guide who will drive ahead of your car, guiding you safely to the parking lot. After you have parked your car, the pilot will take you back to the ship in his car.

Arrival by train:

Rijeka train station is very close to the port. It is approx. 1,000 meters to the ferry, which you can easily walk to. There is also a taxi rank in front of the train station. You will also find luggage storage at the train station in case you arrive earlier. From the ferry port in Split, take a bus or taxi to Trogir (approx. 20 km or 30 minutes). Please find out about the current train and ferry departure times at www.bahn.de or in your travel agency. Please also note that it is unfortunately not possible to take your own bicycle with you on the night train from Munich to Rijeka.

Requirements

The cycling stages require participants to be in good basic condition, which regular cyclists should have acquired. The daily stages of 30 - 50 km lead through hilly and mountainous terrain (approx. 400 - 700 m ascent per day) and are cycled without time pressure. Steeper or longer gradients can also be mastered, but pushing is definitely allowed. The roads are mostly paved and rarely used outside of the holiday season.

Decide for yourself every day whether you want to cycle individually (i.e. alone) according to information and maps or join one of the two tour guides or individual participants. Instead of a bike tour, you can also spend half or a whole day bathing on the ship.

On this trekking bike tour, the guided group pace is based on the trekking cyclists. If you rent an e-bike on a trekking tour, you are asked to be considerate of those who ride without electronic support. Trekking riders need more time and breaks when riding uphill.

Available rental bikes

There are 24-speed trekking bikes available as women's (medium step-up) and men's bikes, as well as unisex electric bikes with 11-speed derailleur gears and low step-through or somewhat sportier unisex 9-speed hybrid e-bikes with a slightly higher step-through. The bikes are each equipped with an Ortlieb pannier

Catering

The accompanying cook is a member of the crew and prepares an extensive breakfast and one or two warm meals every day. It starts with dinner on embarkation day and ends with breakfast on disembarkation day. Depending on the course of the tour, one or the other lunch meal can also consist of a packed lunch. One meal a day is taken ashore and is not included in the tour price.

Children

Basically, we are of the opinion that only children with good stamina and a minimum age of 10 years can complete the bike tours on their own. Please note that rental bikes can only be provided from a height of 1.20 m. For children under the age of 16 there is also a legal obligation to wear a helmet in Croatia. Children's helmets cannot be borrowed.

Helmet compulsory

Helmets are compulsory on our bike tours. Please bring your own, well-fitting helmet. A limited number of rental helmets are available for adults (reservation required in advance!). Children must bring their own helmets.

Bringing your own electric bike

It is not possible to take your own e-bike with you due to safety regulations on the ships and to protect the health of the tour guide. If you would like to ride an e-bike, we are happy to offer it to you for booking.

Extra costs which are not included in the tour price

Flat rate for local taxes and drinking water on board and on the bike tours (payable locally to the captain): 60 euros per adult or 30 euros per child up to and including 16 years.

Drinks on board, meals and drinks ashore, entrance fees to places of interest, tips for crew and tour guide.

7 days hotline services

Just in case the bike chain is broken, flooding makes it impossible to continue your tour or any other nasty surprise: you can reach us seven days a week and we will do anything to help you as fast as possible.

Passport and visa requirements

For EU citizens, there are no special passport or visa requirements and no health formalities to be considered for this trip.

Travel insurance

The tour price already includes the statutory insolvency insurance. In addition, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance upon receipt of your travel confirmation in order to protect yourself against financial disadvantages in the event of travel cancellation, interruption of travel, illness or accident.

Velociped can withdraw from the tour twenty-one days before the starting date of the tour, at the latest, in case the minimum number of participants stated under the tour description is not attained. You will duly be informed without any delay in case of a withdrawal. Velociped will of course refund the paid tour price immediately. Please note our General Terms and Conditions.
