Tour

Individual arrival in Dubrovnik. Embarkation between 2 pm and 2.30 pm in the city harbor Gruž. At around 4.30 pm you have the opportunity to take part in a guided city tour of Dubrovnik. Here you will learn interesting details about the city's history and visit the most important sights. You will spend the night in Dubrovnik today, giving you the opportunity to enjoy this extraordinary city in the evening.

The day starts for you with a crossing from Dubrovnik to the nearby island of Sipan, which is the largest of the Elaphiti Islands, but still a rather small island. Once there, you start your first short bike tour and explore the island of Sipan. Your boat will then take you to the next island, the green island of Mljet. Green because 70% of it is forested, making it the most densely wooded island in the Mediterranean. Homer mentioned this beautiful island in his epic poem "Odyssey". He made it home to the nymph Calypso and the legendary Greek king Odysseus, who could not resist Calypso and stayed on Mljet for seven years. After arriving in the port of Pomena, enjoy a bike tour through the Mljet National Park. Your ship will then be waiting for you in Pomena for dinner and overnight stay.

While you enjoy a relaxed breakfast, cast off for the Pelješac peninsula in the port of Trstenik. Pelješac can be recognized from afar by the impressive 1,000 m high Sv. Ilija mountain range. The famous local wines Plavac and Dingač come from this unique wine-growing region, whose steep mountain slopes are covered with vineyards. Today's cycle tour takes you along the coast from Trstenik to Orebić. There, the Harmonia awaits you with a delicious lunch, which you can enjoy. Your ship will then take you to the island of Korčula in the town of the same name. The interesting town of Korčula competes with Venice for the honor of being the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. Here you can enjoy a guided tour through the herringbone-like streets of the old town and hear fascinating anecdotes about the history of the town and the island. Overnight stay in Korčula town.

Today, the focus is on the island of Korčula. You will discover the entire island by bike. A Mediterranean climate and breathtaking scenery await you. Marvel at the beautiful views, rich vegetation and deep blue water. For many, the island is the most beautiful island in Dalmatia, decide for yourself after your day on the island whether you share this opinion. Enjoy dinner on board and spend the evening relaxing in the large, sheltered bay of Vela Luka on Korčula, where you will also spend the night today.

In the morning, during breakfast, you say goodbye to the island of Korčula and set course for the next island, Vis. On the way, you have the opportunity to jump into the cool water directly from your boat. Vis is the furthest inhabited island in Croatia from the mainland. A Greek colony called Issa was founded on the island 2300 years ago. In the afternoon, the next cycle tour is on the program for you, on which you will cycle around Vis. You take a coffee break in the harbor of Komiža. You will spend the evening and night in the port of Vis.

The day starts for you with a relaxing boat trip to the island of Hvar in the town of the same name. Once there, you will have time to stroll around the town and enjoy the view of the Spanish fortress towering high above the town before getting on your bikes. Your cycle tour today takes you from the town of Hvar through small villages and lavender fields across the ridge of the island to the port town of Jelsa. The last stretch to Jelsa is downhill and you can enjoy the view. After an ice cream or coffee break in Jelsa, you set off again through the picturesque little town of Vrboska and through the Stari Grad field, which was parceled out by the Greeks and is now under UNESCO protection, to Stari Grad, where you will spend the night today.

In the morning, you set sail for the island of Brač, famous for its brilliant white limestone, which was used to build the White House in Washington and the Reichstag in Berlin, among other things. Once you arrive on Brač in Milna, get on your bikes and climb the island and marvel at the spectacular views of the Dalmatian coast. You then continue along the coast of Postira to the picturesque harbor town of Pučišća, where your ship awaits you for lunch and the last crossing of the week to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Split. During a city tour of Split, you will have the opportunity to visit the former palace of Emperor Diocletian and learn more about its transformation into today's old town of Split. Afterwards, bring your eventful trip to a close with a cozy dinner and final evening on board and look back on your wonderful time in Dalmatia.

Disembarkation in Split after breakfast.

The planned route is always subject to possible changes due to nautical, meteorological or organisational reasons. If, for example, a route cannot be travelled due to low water, high water, bad weather or construction work, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety. This is not a legally valid reason for cancelling the trip free of charge. The same applies in the event of officially ordered lock or bridge repairs or in the event of engine or propulsion damage to the ship through no fault of the captain.

As your ship usually sails to the next harbour on the same day, your time frame for your own activities and sightseeing is limited. On some bridges, the clearance height is so low that the sun deck is closed for your safety.

Requirements

The cycling stages require the participants to have a certain level of fitness, which regular cyclists usually have. The routes go up between 400 - 700 meters. The daily stages of 30 - 60 km lead through hilly and mountainous terrain and are cycled without time pressure. Steeper or longer gradients can also be mastered, but pushing is definitely allowed. Instead of a bike tour, you can also spend half a day or a whole day on the ship. Please note that helmets are compulsory on the bike tours! Please bring your own well fitting helmet. A limited number of rental helmets are available on board, but must be reserved in advance.

Basically, on our e-bike & boat trips there is also the possibility to take part in the day tours with a trekking bike. However, the guided group pace is based on the e-bike riders. Anyone who rides a trekking bike on an e-bike trip should not be surprised at the faster basic speed. Trekking cyclists should also have the necessary condition to ride at this speed. Thank you for your understanding.

Available rental bikes

There are 11-gear women's e-bikes with a low entry (please state your preference in the comments and questions box when booking). Likewise 24-speed trekking bikes as women's and men's bikes. Since the trip is an e-bike tour, the group pace is adapted to the e-bike riders, so we recommend renting e-bikes.

The bikes are each equipped with an Ortlieb pannier.

Catering

The accompanying cook is a member of the crew and prepares an extensive breakfast and one or two warm meals every day. Meals include 2 x full board and 5 x half board. Meals begin with dinner on the day of embarkation and end with breakfast on the day of disembarkation.

Discounts

If the cabins are occupied by three, we grant a third person (e.g. a child) a 50% discount on the basic tour price. Children up to and including 16 years of age receive a discount of 25% on the basic tour price (cannot be combined with the 50% discount).

Children

We believe that only children in a good physical condition and with a minimum age of 10 and previous bicycle tour experience are able to master the cycle tours on their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.20 m (4 ft.) for hybrid bicycles and 1.50 m (4.5 ft.) for e-bikes. There is a helmet duty for all children up to age 16 in Croatia.

Itinerary changes

We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements. If necessary the tour will be operated in reverse.

Bringing your own electric bike

It is not possible to bring your own e-bike on the ship as a safety measure and to protect the health of the guides. If you want to ride an e-bike, we can offer this for booking.

Extra costs which are not included in the tour price

Sum for local taxes and drinking water on board and on the bike tours (payable locally to the captain): 60 euros per adult or 30 euros per child up to and including 16 years.
Drinks on board (tally sheet, payable locally to the captain), meals and drinks ashore are not included in the price and are payable locally.

7 days hotline service

Just in case the bike chain is broken, flooding makes it impossible to continue your tour or any other nasty surprise: you can reach us seven days a week and we will do anything to help you as fast as possible.

Passport and visa requirements

For EU citizens, there are no special passport or visa requirements and no health formalities to be considered for this trip.

Travel insurance

The tour price already includes the statutory insolvency insurance. In addition, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance upon receipt of your travel confirmation in order to protect yourself against financial disadvantages in the event of travel cancellation, interruption of travel, illness or accident.

Velociped can withdraw from the tour twenty-one days before the starting date of the tour, at the latest, in case the minimum number of participants stated under the tour description is not attained. You will duly be informed without any delay in case of a withdrawal. Velociped will of course refund the paid tour price immediately. Please note our General Terms and Conditions.
