Between boats and canals
Delightfully you begin this bicycle trip in the nice garden city Cottbus. The Spree cycle track leads you in the beginning by the Peitzer pond scenery, before you reach quite fast the fantastically nice Spreewald. Enjoy countless watercourses, smart wooden bridges and coloured small boats. You cycle by lonesome pines and meadows woods where you can enjoy rest and beauty of nature so properly. And of course you must try them - the Spreewald cucumber from the wooden keg.
1. day Cottbus arrival
During the day you will receive your touring bike which opens up the possibility to discover the idyllic Branitzer Park and castle Pückler. It is worth to go for a stroll through the beautifully restored Old Town. Parking site at the hotel.
2. day Cottbus - Burg ca. 44 km
On the first cycling day the route leads you along the nature paradise Peitzer Teiche to the old fortress town Peitz. A visit of the mining museum is highly recommended, before you go on cycling along the Spree to Burg. Burg is known as a centre of sorbian culture, which has been kept vivid through the seclusion of the region.
3. day Burg - Unterspreewald ca. 44-48 km
It is worth visiting Vetschau today, where you can discover the German-Sorbian church or the information centre on white storks. You will continue your tour along many rivers and canals through the high forest to Lübbenau. With its numerous flow-lines the forest has its own fascination. Meeting point of many visitors is the lagoon village Lehde near Lübbenau.
4. day Unterspreewald - Beeskow ca. 51 - 56 km
Destination of the tour today is Beeskow with its medieval town wall. Along the way you come past the Neuendorfer- and Schwieloch lakes, which are picturesquely located in moraine hills.
The castle in Beeskow shows an exhibition on the homeland and culture history of this region.
5. day Beeskow - Fürstenwalde ca. 36 km
The tour continues quite relaxed along the bends of the Spree to Fürstenwalde. Wide floodplains and luxuriant nature form the picture of this stage.
6. day Fürstenwalde - Berlin-Köpenick ca. 56 km
This day you will cyle via Erkner and the Müggelsee to the Hauptmann von Köpenick (a German impostor who masqueraded as a Prussian military officer in 1906 and became famous as the Captain of Köpenick -Hauptmann von Köpenick). In Erkner pays off a visit to the Gerhard Hauptmann house. Climb up the 30 meter high Müggel tower, from this tower you will have a fantastic view. Finally make a ramble to the old town of Köpenick. Overnight stay at Köpenick or directly at the Müggelsee.
7. day Köpenick departure
After breakfast you bicycle journey ends just in front of Berlin. It is possible to go from Berlin back to Cottbus by train (duration 2 hours).

Parking facilities at the hotel
There is parking in the garage of the Spree River Gallery (630 pitches, video surveillance) - costs about 6 - 16 € per day.
Arrival by train
Cottbus is easily accessible from all major cities in Germany by train. Current schedule information and price information can be found at: www.bahn.de.
Condition of cycle paths
The quality of bike paths along the river Spree is generally very good. The surface changes specifically between asphalt, concrete, cobblestones, good passable dirt roads and well-developed cycle paths and side roads. The largest part of the cycle path runs along newly paved bike paths and roads.
Available rental bikes
There are 8-speed gear shift touring bikes with coaster brake, or 24-speed gear shift freewheel touring bikes available, also Ebikes.
Transfer back to the starting point of the journey
Return transfer is provided by minibus (min. 4 persons). Also it is possible to go by train, cost about 65,- EUR per person.
Extra costs which are not included in the price
A possibly applicable city tax is not part of the travel price and therefore has to be paid at the hotel locally. The use of the rental bikes during additional nights is possible for a surcharge. Please state this request when booking.

Passport and visa requirements
For EU citizens, there are no special passport or visa requirements and no health formalities to be considered for this trip.
Travel insurance
The tour price already includes the statutory insolvency insurance. In addition, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance upon receipt of your travel confirmation in order to protect yourself against financial disadvantages in the event of travel cancellation, interruption of travel, illness or accident.

Museum of Fine Arts
Modernity in the industrial monument
In May 2008, the Museum of Fine Arts in Cottbus, which was responsible for the state of Brandenburg, moved into its domicile in the former diesel power plant. With its symbiosis of old and new architecture, it has since developed into an audience magnet for art lovers, lovers of architecture and technology.
Schillerplatz Cottbus
Formerly a livestock market and parade ground - around 1900, the square was rebuilt with representative town houses and the Jugendstil theater. Used as a rummel place until 1943, it was given its present form in 1956 on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the city.
Bismarckturm, Burg
The 27 m high observation tower on the legendary Schlossberg, a prehistoric and early-history fortress, was built between 1915 and 1917. The Bismarckturm offers a wide view of the unique Spreewald landscape.
Spreewald village, Lübbenau
The lagoon city in pocket format: a Venice, as it may have been 150 years ago. The most famous place in the Spreewald is the village of Lehde, which is not only by boat, but also by water walk and on foot The Spreewalddorf Lehde is located 2 km southeast of Lübbenau and was incorporated in 1974. Since wood and pipe were only available as building materials, the architecture of the block building predominated here, and indigenous woods such as alders and poplars were predominantly used.
Cross-church, Krausnick
1728: The estate of Krausnick belonged only to the son of the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm I, who inherited it after his death. The old church of Krausnick was dismantled and the cross-church still existing in its original form was built.
Castle Krügersdorf, Beeskow
The manor house - built in 1539 and called "castle" by the inhabitants was comprehensively renovated over the Dorferneuerungsprogramm. From the very active village club "Krügersdorfer Eichen V. 95" as a meeting place, as a youth meeting and for events.
To go boating
For a long time the tiles were the only means of transport between the farms and the wooden barge with the pack the most important means of transportl.
Town Hall, Fürstenwalde
The Town Hall has been the center of the political life of the city for 500 years and has shaped the market square. Today, the Festaal, the town hall and the art gallery Altes Rathaus are located here.
Ship trips
Berlin is with the Spree and the Havel, with many lakes and canals a paradise for water lovers. From the water, the city is particularly attractive and can be explored well. Shipping companies such as the Stern and Kreis offer different ship trips every day.
Castle surrounded by moats, Köpenick
The baroque "Wasserschloss" of the Hohenzollern at the historic old town of Berlin-Köpenick is just as much to be admired as the tallest office tower of Berlin on the edge of the Treptow Park - a few kilometers down the river Spree.
