tour description

Watt is going on?

Be enchanted by the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea, that not only shows off as a national park but also as World Heritage and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Experience first-hand the contrast between high and low tide, endless sky and wide sea, little people and much nature. Twice a day the tidal falls dry at low tide and submerged at high tide again. This gives this district an incredibly rich flora and fauna with animal and plant species found nowhere else in the world. Enjoy two double on the islands of Fohr and Amrun, visit the Halligen, Island Pellworm and the peninsula Nordstrand. Even the culinary region has much to offer: homemade cake with hot Pharisees, 'Deichkäse', 'Salzwiesenlamm', extra fresh crab, golden sand clods and freshly filled fish rolls, which are actually much more than just a minor detail.

1. day Arrival Husum

Welcome to the North Sea port of Husum. Explore the beautiful market square dominated by old houses with impressive gabled fronts, the old town hall and the imposing St. Mary's Church.

2. day Husum - Island of Foehr, 44 - 56 km + Ferry

Enjoy a bike ride along the North Frisian coast with wind in the back and sun in the hair. Breathe in the fresh air, watch the flying skills of the seagulls, take a short walk across the mudflats or use the flood for a refreshing swim. In Dagebüll you start a 45-minute ferry ride to the island of Foehr, at low tide past sandbanks and seal colonies. In the evening you enjoy a spectacular view of the halligen from the beach promenade.

3. day Roundtrip Island of Foehr, 42 km

Explore the natural beauty of Föhr that advertises with Frisian Caribbean. The town of Wyk and the 11 island villages are among the tourist highlights of the island. Marvel at quaint thatched cottages, flowering gardens and so many small romantic corners. On your island tour on wonderful cycle paths you will visit beautiful churches and ancient windmills.

4. day Insel Föhr - Island Amrum, 30 km + Ferry

A short ferry ride will take you to Wittdün in Amrum. Hardly any other North Sea resort offers such a maritime setting: watching the comings and goings of the ferries, you photograph the colorful image of the shrimp boat and marvel at the fast rescue boats and large and small dinghies and yachts. Boardwalks through the dunes lead to the wide Kniepsand, plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes to take a stroll and enjoy. Cycle to Amruner Lighthouse, the 66 m high landmark on the island. It started operation in 1875 and is open for visitors during summer in the morning. Enjoy the wonderful view over the whole island from the round balcony.

5. day Halligen round trip

You're spoiled for choice: either have an other vacation day by bike on Amrun, or discover the halligs without bike. The special feature of the halligen is that the islands several times a year – mostly in the winter months - will be flooded by the North Sea. During such a floods only the terps, artificial mound, on which the houses of the inhabitants were built, are out of the water. Visit Königspesel, a Friesenstube from the 18th century, with colorful faience that transfers the living culture of sailors, marvel at the holm church from the 17th century and inform yourself in cinema with a short film on a typical "land submerged".

6. day Insel Amrum - Bredstedt, 26 - 51 km

Today it goes back to the mainland. Passing Dagebüll you ride along the dikes to North Frisian Bredstedt, the city of the Frisian language research.

7. day Bredstedt - Nordstand - Husum, 54 km

Again you are accompanied by the dikes and the unique Wadden Sea. Passing the Hamburger Hallig and Nordstrandischmoor you cycle to the peninsula Nordstrand. Enjoy again the peace and serenity, look to the coming and going of the ocean, feel the warm Watt mud between your toes, count the fleecy clouds and let you embrace the freedom and vastness of the sea. Enterprising will take another detour to Pellworm before staying in the near Husum.

8. day Husum Departure

After breakfast we say goodbye to the vibrant harbor city and the unique Wadden Sea.

tour highlights

The northern city of Husum offers you maritime port flair, culture and pleasure for every taste, shopping experience for the whole family and at every corner traces of the great poet Theodor Storm.

Castle Husum

The castle before Husum in the heart of the castle park was built at the end of the 16th century in an area that was not yet part of the city of Husum.

Embossed by high gables and towers, the castle is one of the city's landmarks.

Inside, the stairwell, the knights' chapel, the chapel chapel and the various reception rooms can be visited and, together with the numerous antique furnishings, the viewer is given a sacred impression.

Castle Husum

Tine Husum

Tine, the secret landmark of Husum, stands on the base of the fountain built in 1902. Created by the native Husum sculptor Adolf Brütt, the bronze figure represents a young fisherwoman in wooden shoes.

The Tine in Husum is reminiscent of two benefactors of the city: Catharina Asmussen and Friedrich Woldsen, whose name is also derived from the short form for the figure.

Tine Husum

Föhr is part of the North Frisian Islands and is located in the heart of a world-unique landscape: the national park Wattenmeer. It is about 6.8 kilometers wide in north-south direction and 12 kilometers long in east-west direction and has a total area of 82.82 square kilometers.

In the Frisian Caribbean there is a lot to see and to discover. Let yourself be impressed by the traditional and typical Frisian culture.

There is always something to discover on Amrum: visit the lighthouse and enjoy the gull view from above. Be amazed by a windmill that is still intact, or you can return to the era of Hüs in a time when Amrum was still full of sailors and read their resumes on the artistically designed tombstones in front of St. Clement's church. Visit one of the natural science centers or the maritim or the birdwatcher on the northern tip and and and.

Hallig Hooge

"Floating Dreams" are called the Hallig - small uninhabited islands. They are unique worldwide. The term Hallig means "flat" or "low". The artificially raised mounds of cotyards, on which the inhabitants of the reveries built their houses, are called "Warften". They assure survival in the storm and the flood. Through the floods, the Halligen grow slowly.

Hallig Hooge

The air spa Bredstedt and its surrounding has a lot to offer tourist. Not only the 777-year-old town with its mills is worth seeing.

The beautiful landscape, which surrounds Bredstedt in a circle, offer pure nature and very good recreation. Experience nature and enjoy. Bredstedt is the bridge to the North Frisian Islands and Hallig.

The island of Nordstrand is located in the 1985 "Nationalpark Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wattenmeer". Islands and Halligen in the Wattenmeer North Frisia are habitat and breeding area of numerous sea and beach birds.
