Tour
Arrive in Waren on time today - it's worth it! Stroll through the town, which is well worth seeing, and take a leisurely stroll in the marina on the shores of Lake Müritz. Overnight stay in Waren or Klink.
Where the ice age left its traces you cycle today through a unique landscape, the Müritz National Park. The Havel Cycle Path leads idyllically through vast forests and along countless lakes. Embedded in this large protected area is the source of the Havel, fed by several spring lakes. Follow the young course of the river to Ankershagen and visit the Heinrich Schliemann Museum, dedicated to the world-famous excavator of the ancient cities of Troy, Mycenae and Tiryns. Then look forward to Kratzeburg and an interesting exhibition on the Havel spring area. Via the Wesenberger Seenkreuz you cycle to the beautiful town of Neustrelitz, once the residence of the dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
Take a leap into history today and visit the Slawendorf (Slavic Village) worth seeing at Zierker See. Marvel at this open-air museum, where life, living and working in the early Middle Ages is recreated. Try your hand at one of the 8 crafts: carving, weaving, blacksmithing, pottery, soapstone grinding, felting, weaving or candle making, climb up to the 18 m high watchtower, which offers a fantastic panoramic view, and take a boat trip on Lake Zierk in a reconstructed Slavic boat.
Via Wesenberg with its lovingly restored market square, Gothic church, harbor and small castle, you will cycle along the upper Havel River to the Großer Stechlinsee, the deepest lake in Brandenburg (70m). Look forward to Neuglobsow, where green table glass was produced until 1900. Marvel at the historic half-timbered houses of the glassmakers and visit the glass museum. Theordor Fontane also visited Neuglobsow on his wanderings through the Mark Brandenburg and then processed his impressions of the landscape in his novel der Stechlin. Overnight stay in Neuglobsow/ Fürstenberg/ surroundings.
Today you follow the Havel cycle path further south and cycle along the famous Uckermärkisches Seengebiet nature park. Look forward to the Mildenberg Brickworks Park - a truly exceptional industrial monument. Brick production began here in 1887, when rich deposits of clay were discovered during the construction of the Löwenberg-Templin railroad line. Then, at the beginning of the 20th century, one of the largest contiguous brick-making areas in Europe was created! In the "Zehdenicker Ziegeleirevier", billions of bricks were produced, from which Berlin and large parts of the Mark were built. The tour continues along the river to Oranienburg.
Discover Oranienburg with its freshly renovated castle and restored park. Today Oranienburg Palace is one of the most important baroque buildings in the Mark Brandenburg. It dates back to a country estate built for the Great Elector's first wife, Louise Henriette, born Princess of Orange, beginning in 1651. Visit the Palace Museum and the Oberhavel District Museum and marvel at the extensive collection of paintings as well as the Elector's apartment with a porcelain chamber. Continue on well-maintained cycle paths, as well as forest and riverside paths along the Oder-Havel Canal via Henningsdorf to Berlin- Spandau.
Explore the citadel town of Spandau with its quaint old town and visit the Spandau Citadel before continuing through the Grundewald to Wannsee. The island is accessible via 5 bridges and is one of the most popular destinations for Berliners and tourists alike. Cycle across the famous Glienicke Bridge. The bridge, which is more than 300 years old, managed to attract the attention of the world public on a few days: It was a legendary scene of the Cold War, when the USA and the Soviet Union exchanged spies here. Look forward to your final stop in Potsdam.
After breakfast, your eventful bike tour ends in Potsdam. Before you start your journey home, however, you should still explore the many possibilities of the city. Visit Sanssouci Palace with its beautiful wide park, marvel at Frederick the Great's summer residence, Potsdam's historic districts such as the Russian Colony Alexandrowka, the Dutch Quarter and the former Bohemian Weavers' Quarter. Also the famous Babelsberg film park, the Potsdam excursion boat and the many parks are waiting for your visit (extension bookable).
