Tour
Beaune, the picturesque heart of Burgundy wine country, enchants visitors with its winding streets, elegant townhouses, and atmospheric wine cellars. Its landmark is the colorful Hospices de Beaune, an architectural gem from the 15th century. Surrounded by world-famous vineyards, the city is an ideal starting point for this cycling tour.
Your first stage takes you via Chagny to the impressive Château de Rully, a medieval fortress that rises picturesquely amid the vineyards. From Givry, follow the Voie Verte, a disused railway line that now serves as an idyllic cycle path and takes you to Buxy, a charming, romantic wine-growing village that is entirely dedicated to viticulture.
The Voie Verte promises enjoyable cycling on almost flat terrain with only gentle inclines. Cormatin is home to Burgundy's largest castle, while Cluny boasts an impressive monastery complex whose church was once considered the largest in Christendom. Your destination for the day is Mâcon, a lively town on the Saône with a southern spirit – the perfect place to end an atmospheric day.
Cycle leisurely along the “Voie Bleue” along the Saône through the gentle, picturesque landscape of Burgundy. In Tournus, the Romanesque Abbey of Saint-Philibert is well worth a stop before you continue through vineyards and dreamy villages. At the end of the stage, Chalon-sur-Saône awaits you – a lively town with historic charm, a picturesque old town, and inviting promenades along the riverbank. Let the day come to a relaxing end.
Today's stage takes you through the vast river landscape to Verdun-sur-le-Doubs, a picturesque town at the confluence of the Doubs and Saône rivers. The route continues through idyllic villages and along green riverbanks to Seurre, where you can take a break and sample some regional delicacies. Finally, you will reach Saint-Jean-de-Losne, France's largest inland port for recreational boating – a place with a maritime flair, cozy cafés on the waterfront, and magnificent views of the multitude of boats.
The route takes you along the Canal de Bourgogne in a relaxed atmosphere – picturesque, peaceful and surrounded by nature. Small villages, dreamy locks and passing houseboats line your way, while the canal remains your silent companion. On almost entirely flat, quiet paths, you can enjoy relaxing hours in the saddle. Your destination is Dijon, the historic capital of Burgundy, which is one of the most beautiful cities in France with its lively old town, famous owl trail, and delicious cuisine.
This stage takes you along one of France's most charming wine routes: through the world-famous vineyards of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, you will cycle past endless vineyards, elegant castles, and idyllic wine-growing villages such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Savigny-lès-Beaune. Your destination is picturesque Beaune, the heart of Burgundy wine country, where a historic old town and a wide range of opportunities for enjoyable tastings await you.
After breakfast, your cycling tour ends at the hotel. We would be happy to book additional nights in Beaune for you.
