Bike and boat in the Czech Republic - a wonderful combination in this small country in Central Europe. You start your journey in Prague, the "City of a Thousand Spires". Explore the upper Vltava and Elbe rivers on your way through natural and sometimes slightly hilly countryside. In any case, you should also try the Czech beer, which is world famous.

Highlights

Prague
Prague (Praha in Czech) was the ancient capital of Charles IV's Bohemian Kingdom, and has played a pivotal role in the development of Central Europe since the Middle Ages.

Prague

Prague, Charle's Bridge
It is one of the oldest stone bridges in Europe: the Karlsbrücke over the Vltava. It is limited by two towers and is only open to pedestrians and is very lively around the clock. The Charles Bridge (Karluv Most) connects the Malá Strana and Staré Mesto districts with 16 arches.

Prag, Castle
Prague Castle was most likely founded in around 880 by Prince Bořivoj of the Premyslid Dynasty (Přemyslovci). According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Prague Castle is the largest coherent castle complex in the world, with an area of almost 70,000 m².

Prague, Castle

Prague, Astronomical Clock
Every hour, hundreds of tourists from all over the world with cameras at the ready gather in front of the Old Town Hall to enjoy a fascinating mechanical performance which in the Middle Ages was considered one of the wonders of the world.

Melnik
There is no better way to enjoy the unforgettable charm of Mělník than to watch the sunset over the confluence of the two biggest Czech rivers right below its magnificent chateau while delighting your taste buds with the excellent local wine.

Melnik

Mělník Chateau
Visit the place where 23 Czech queens and princesses have lived. The Renaissance chateau in Mělník, together with the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, rises above the confluence of the rivers Labe (Elbe) and Vltava.

Litomerice
The royal city of Litoměřice on the confluence of the Elbe and Ohře is one of the most beautiful in the Czech Republic. The extensive historical centre of the city has dozens of streets and squares.

Tour

Arrival in the 'golden city' of Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in the world with Wenceslas Square, Charles Bridge, Hradčany and the city centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992. Embarkation is from 16:00. After dinner you will have the opportunity to take a walk through Prague to enjoy the special atmosphere of the illuminated Prague Castle.

After the bike handover, you climb into the saddle and start your first bike tour. Along the Vltava River via Troy with its baroque castle you cycle to Klecancy and further via Drasty, Vodochody to your destination for today, Kralupy. The town is famous for the book "The Adventures of the Good Soldier Schwejk".

After breakfast, you cycle almost always along the Vltava River first to Nelahozeves, one of the most famous Renaissance castles in Bohemia. You then cycle on through Veltrusý Park, an extensive area with numerous sculptures and pavilions, to Mělník. In the early afternoon you will board your boat again, which will take you down the Elbe to Litoměřice.

Today you have the day at leisure. Visit the town of Litoměřice, one of the most beautiful towns in the Czech Republic, with its very well preserved Gothic town fortifications and the many Renaissance and Baroque buildings in the town centre. Discover the Baroque St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Bishop's Residence. Or visit the Terezín (Theresienstadt) Memorial. The concentration camp memorial is only about 5 km away and can easily be reached by bike. For more athletic cyclists, we recommend a trip to Střekov Castle (Burg Schreckenstein), situated high above the Elbe River. The route takes you via the small town of Velké Zernoseky past the Bohemian Gate, where the Elbe Sandstone Mountains merge into the Bohemian Uplands, to Schreckenstein Castle. The climb is worthwhile, as from here you have a wonderful view of the Elbe valley and the surrounding mountains. Afterwards you cycle back to the ship in Litoměřice.

Early in the morning the boat will take you to Roudnice. Here you will start the cycle tour, which will take you almost always along the Elbe via Dobříň, Račice and Vliněves to the pretty town of Mělník. Climb the Castle Hill, from where you have a magnificent view of the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe rivers. After the break in Mělník, continue cycling to your destination for the day, Mlčechvosty.

Today you have the choice: take a bike tour via Nelahozeves, Kralupy, Vodochody, Drasty and Klecanky to Prague? Or would you rather stay on board and enjoy the passing landscape from the sun deck? Whatever you decide - in the afternoon you will reach Prague again, which was described by Goethe as a "splendid gem in the stone crown of the country".

Today you have time to explore the city of Prague. Visit the right bank of the Vltava, Prague's Old Town or the Jewish Quarter. Alternatively, you can take a bike tour along the Vltava River to Zbraslav. On the way, you have the opportunity to visit the legendary Vyšehrad. castle. The picturesque rock was long considered the legendary seat of the earliest Czech ruling dynasty.

Today your journey ends at 09:00 after breakfast with disembarkation.

The planned route is always subject to possible changes due to nautical, meteorological or organisational reasons. If, for example, a route cannot be travelled due to low water, high water, bad weather or construction work, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety. This is not a legally valid reason for cancelling the trip free of charge. The same applies in the event of officially ordered lock or bridge repairs or in the event of engine or propulsion damage to the ship through no fault of the captain.

As your ship usually sails to the next harbour on the same day, your time frame for your own activities and sightseeing is limited. On some bridges, the clearance height is so low that the sun deck is closed for your safety.
