For “Just-one-Hotel” Lovers
Carefree cycling on radial bike tours
Radial bike tours from Velociped offer an almost unbeatable advantage: without luggage, you can cycle carefree through the countryside, because they always lead back to the starting point and to a pre-booked, optimally equipped hotel. This means there is no need to pack every morning or unpack in the evening at the next hotel. Once is enough. Who could resist?
Moin in Northern Germany
- In northern Germany, we offer cycling tours around Hamburg, for example. From the first-class hotel “Zollenspieker Fährhaus” located directly on the Elbe river with its sauna area and traditional restaurant with a large beer garden, you can enjoy wonderful cycling tours around the harbor, marshes, and lake. Ahoy!
- From Husum, you can cycle through East Frisia and along the North Sea to sand and beaches, Vikings in Haithabu, seals on their benches, and ships in fishing villages. Truly maritime, right? You should also peel and eat crabs and drink a Pharisäer! Jou, nech.
- You will find a total of 130 types of heather on your cycling trips in the Lüneburg Heath, namely in the Höpen Heath Garden. But Heidschnucken sheep, juniper bushes, and orchards also line your romantic path, which has inspired many writers to praise it.
- The Deluxe Star Bike Tour from Travemünde on the Baltic Sea is particularly luxurious, as it combines the best of two Velociped bike tour worlds: a radial bike tour with a charming hotel tour. You will stay at the Maritim Hotel Travemünde right on the Baltic Sea beach with an indoor pool, sauna, and, of course, a maritime bar. Your day trips will take you to famous Lübeck, Plön Castle, the cliffs in Boltenhagen, and Timmendorfer Strand.
- From the Hanseatic city of Stralsund, or rather from the comfortable hotel on Jungfernstieg, you can even go island hopping by bike. Rügen, Hiddensee, and Usedom are your destinations, as are the famous chalk cliffs, sophisticated Baltic Sea resorts, and towering lighthouses. Fresh sea air and a highlight every day are guaranteed!
Deep in the West
Moselle, Lahn and Münsterland
- On our radial bike tour from Trier on the Moselle with its ancient Roman buildings, you will visit Luxembourg and Germany. Nature, culture, and boats are the order of the day here, as you will visit the Porta Nigra, the Imperial Baths, and many other monuments, as well as the Saar Loop. Enjoy the incomparable view from Cloef! Finally, you will shorten one day's stage by boat and watch the cyclists on the shore from the deck. What a wonderful change of perspective!
- From the student town of Marburg an der Lahn with its medieval old town, where Velociped is based and knows its way around, you can cycle in all directions: on the Lahn Cycle Route, of course, or high up to Amöneburg, and you can even switch to a pedal boat. So you'll be pedaling all the time, whether on water or on land on your bike.
- The most beautiful Pättkes can be visited on the Sternradtour through the Münsterland region. And what are Pättkes? They are the former paths that horse-drawn carts used to travel to the fields and farmland. On the Pättkes, you will encounter deer and pheasants in abundance. They cross the path without hesitation. The well-maintained bike paths take you across flat countryside, past paddocks and farms, as well as shops where you can buy Westphalian staples: air-dried ham with bread and beer, before returning to the picturesque city of Münster with its historic town hall and St. Lamberti Church, from where you start each morning.

Rhein und Saar
- Starting in Bonn, the city of Beethoven and former federal capital with its many sights, you will explore the Rhineland and the Siebengebirge mountains on two wheels. Your four excursions will also involve water: you will cross the Sieg river by tow ferry and in Cologne you will even take a panoramic boat trip followed by a visit to the cathedral.
- Now it's almost French: from Saarbrücken or a 4**** superior hotel, you will travel to the Saar Loop. It almost winds around itself and closes the curve. This is due to the hard quartz rock that forces the river into a narrow loop here. Another highlight is the UNESCO World Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte. In the “cathedral of work” from the heyday of industrialization, people once worked hard. Today, visitors climb around the industrial monument, view exhibitions in the ore hall, or listen to concerts in the blower hall, because after it was decommissioned, it was discovered that it has better acoustics than some opera houses. The two green slag heaps are now covered with mixed forest. You will also discover plenty of nature in the Bliesgau region with its orchards and forests.

Potsdam and Mecklenburg Lake District
- Potsdam is full of castles and lakes: explore Sanssouci Palace, Cecilienhof Palace, the Russian colony of Alexandrowka, and the Dutch Quarter by bike. And, of course, you'll ride through Grunewald Forest and out to Lake Wannsee. Pack your swimming trunks! There's no shortage of water, as the route takes you along the idyllic Havel River through an enchanted forest with ivy-covered trees to the fruit-growing town of Werder, located on an island in the Havel. Fruit is still important to the town today, and every year at the end of April/beginning of May, the Fruit Tree Blossom Festival takes place. Then lots of fruit wine is drunk. It is also called Bretterknaller (board bangers), because drunk Berliners used to often travel home late in freight cars. There they banged on the floorboards. You will also travel there, to the federal capital Berlin, and visit the Brandenburg Gate and the government district.
- You will find pure nature on our tour in the far northeast: you can easily explore the Mecklenburg Lake District and the Müritz National Park on day trips from Waren. Sea eagles, golden eagles, cranes, red deer, a bison reserve, as well as pine and beech forests, moors, and seemingly endless meadows will enchant you. And again and again: sparkling lakes! Once, you can even travel back to your starting point with its historic old town by boat.

Spreewald, Dresden and Weimar
- In the Spreewald, you should definitely visit the Cucumber Museum in Lehde, and you should also try some cucumbers. They crunch when you bite into them! The popular Spreewald cucumbers are stored in wooden barrels and you will see them everywhere. In addition to the Spreewald, the Spree River, and barges, as well as a Venetian-style lagoon settlement, you will also discover the interesting city of Cottbus with its wonderful landscape gardens. Branitz Park even has an earth pyramid and a lake pyramid.
- The beautiful beaches along the Elbe are also great for cycling. From Dresden, you can cycle to masterful buildings such as Pillnitz Castle or Moritzburg Water Castle with its porcelain quarters, and in the Meissen manufactory, of course, it's all about Meissen porcelain®, the white gold decorated with crossed swords. In Dresden alone, there are plenty of sights to see: the Semper Opera House, the Zwinger Palace, and the Frauenkirche are just a few of the highlights. And nature? You can cycle through the beautiful Elbe floodplains and on to Saxon Switzerland with its impressive rock formations.
- Goethe was here! In and around Weimar, with its beautiful residential palace, you can cycle in the footsteps of German literature, especially classical literature. You will stay right next to Goethe Park and opposite Goethe's house. In Erfurt, you can visit the cathedral and the 120-meter-long Krämerbrücke bridge. As its name suggests, it is home to shops and merchants – even today – and, with 32 houses, it is the only bridge north of the Alps that is built up and inhabited. In Jena, you can climb the Jentower for a good overview, and entire shows are presented in the Zeiss Planetarium.

Main, Lake Constance, and Lake Chiemsee
- On the Main River in beautiful Franconia, you will cycle from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bamberg. Bamberg is a beer town, and you are sure to sample a “Seidla” or two, as half a liter of beer is called here, in one of the beautifully situated cellars. Upper Franconia has the highest density of breweries in the world, and on your day trips you will discover one or two beer specialities on the way to the baroque castle of Pommersfelden, the pilgrimage basilica of Vierzehnheiligen and through the Regnitz Valley to Erlangen.
- We offer several radial cycling tours around the Bavarian lakes: At Lake Constance, for example, where you can cycle from Constance along the Swabian Sea to Meersburg, Lindau with the Bavarian lion at the harbor entrance, the flower island of Mainau, or the UNESCO World Heritage Island of Reichenau. Of course, this also requires several boat and ferry crossings, which you are sure to enjoy.
- On the Bavarian Sea, Lake Chiemsee, you can cycle along the shore and take a boat to the islands of Frauenchiemsee and Herrenchiemsee. You can also explore the Eggstadt Lake District and the Achental valley. If you still haven't had enough of the water, your hotel is located directly on the blue Chiemsee, with the lido and indoor swimming pool opposite.

Allgäu lakes and Palatinate
- Last but not least, we also offer a star tour to the Allgäu lakes and castles. Forggensee, Weißensee, and Hegratsrieder See are just as much a part of the program as the royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle, which towers on a rock above Schwangau, was built by King Ludwig II, the “mad Kini.” Even today, he is still the subject of many legends. Hohenschwangau Castle is right next door and was once his parents' home. Don't forget to try some cheese on the Emmental Cycle Route, which some claim is the staple food of the Allgäu region.
- Off to the Mediterranean Palatinate! Here you can cycle along the German Wine Route on day trips without having to pack your bags every day. No wonder that the warm climate is ideal for growing tropical fruits and grapevines, which you can also taste in their fermented form: Palatinate wine. From Bad Dürkheim, you cycle through sunny countryside to Speyer, Freinsheim, and Landau. The Dürkheim giant barrel is said to be the largest barrel in the world, and there are also numerous wine festivals, such as the Vineyard Night in Bad Dürkheim, the largest open-air wine tasting in the Palatinate.

Sweden, the Netherlands, and Austria
Exploring Europe by bike without luggage:
- Let's start in the far north, in Sweden. In Stockholm, the Venice of the North, you can cycle across 14 islands and 53 bridges. From the Swedish capital, you can visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Drottningholm Palace and Skogskyrkogarden Forest Cemetery by bike. The next day, you can cycle through the archipelago. Many Swedes spend their summer holidays here on an island or a boat. Skärgårdsliv is the name given to this peaceful, enjoyable life in the archipelago. Sweden is also famous for the music of Abba, which you can learn more about in a museum.
- The Netherlands, the classic cycling country par excellence, awaits you with a radial cycling tour starting in Amsterdam. Cycle through the countryside along canals, houseboats, windmills, tulips, and dykes. Visit the countless sights of the hip city of Amsterdam, such as the Rijksmuseum and the Anne Frank House, but also Haarlem, surrounded by flower fields.
- From beautiful Villach with its impressive Landskron castle ruins, you can start your day trips in Austria along the Drau River and to numerous lakes, including Lake Faaker, Lake Wörther, and Lake Ossiacher, to Klagenfurt and Spittal. For a good overview, climb the 239 steps of the 94-meter-high parish tower of St. James's Church. The highest tower in Carinthia offers views as far as the Julian Alps.

Portugal, France, Switzerland and Italy
- Located on Portugal's Atlantic coast and the Douro River, Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the capital of port wine. Countless port wine cellars are located there, and you are sure to sample a glass or two of this delicacy. The region is also renowned for its excellent red wines. You will visit the city's numerous sights by bike, cycle to the dunes and beaches by the sea, to the Douro Valley, where vines climb the slopes, to the lagoon city of Aveiro, and to Braga, where you can visit the country's oldest cathedral and a bishop's palace.
- In French Alsace, you will learn about savoir vivre by bike. You will stay in Colmar and cycle through the vineyards to wine-growing villages or along the Route du Fromage to Munster cheese, the Gothic St. Martin's Church, a masterpiece of architecture, and of course to Little Venice. As Alsace is known for its culinary delights, you will certainly have plenty to try. A Flammekueche here, a Baeckeoffe there, the Alsatian “national” dish. You will feel right at home in the pretty half-timbered pubs.
- Let's dream of Lake Maggiore, where camellias line the promenade. There is even a botanical garden on Brissago Island. The southern climate means that palm trees even grow here. Here in the deep south of Switzerland lies Ticino, the southernmost canton, which juts out like a thorn into Italy. Italian is spoken in Ticino, which is a combination of Swiss thoroughness and Italian passion. A fantastic mix. You cycle from Ascona-Losone on Lake Maggiore to Bellinzona with its stately castles, to the Maggia Valley with its magnificent Ticino houses, and to Lugano and Lake Lugano.
