tour highlights
Munich
Cathedral / Frauenkirche
The cathedral to our "lieben Frau", who is simply called Frauenkirche in the Volksmund, is the widely visible landmark of Munich. The two towers of the gothic cathedral dominate the cityscape. The southern tower can be visited at certain times and offers a wonderful panorama view over Munich
Marienplatz / New Town Hall
In the middle of the city: the town hall in neo-gothic style surpasses Munich's Marienplatz. A popular photo object: the world-famous clock game, which turns around 11 and 12 o'clock every day, as well as from March to October at 5 pm in the Rathausturm.
Old Peter
Anyone who has passed the 306 steps to the lookout platform of the Old Town in the center of Munich will be rewarded with a fantastic view over the city and the surrounding countryside. When the weather is good, the Alps and Zugspitze can be seen.
Hofbräuhaus
Nearly every tourist has heard of Hofbräuhaus. The famous Bierhalle am Platzl in the Old Town is well visited in all seasons.
Theatinerkirche / Odeonsplatz
The Catholic Court and Stiftskirche St. Kajetan belongs to the magnificent buildings at Odeonsplatz. Since in earlier times it was the Order Church of the Theatine Monks in Munich, it is only called Theatinerkirche in the Volksmund. Next to the Theatinerkirche are the Feldherrenhalle and the Munich Residenz.
Residence
At the time of the monarchy, the kings of the Wittelsbacher ruled from the residence. Today, the building is used in a variety of ways: the Herkulessaal regularly hosts classical concerts, and the State Collection of Egyptian Art is housed in the rooms of the residence.
Olympiapark
Built for the Olympic Summer Games 1972, the Olympiapark with its distinctive glass architecture is today one of the leisure centers of the city. Numerous events in the stadium, the Olympic Stadium or the park provide plenty of visitors.
BMW world
The BMW world is the latest visitor magnet at the Olympiapark. The house with the impressive architecture tells the story and the future of the Bavarian automobile manufacturer.
Allianz Arena
The UFO in the north of Munich: The Allianz Arena is the city's newest landmark. If the Munich football clubs can not play here, interested parties can be guided through the building and marvel at the unique architecture.
Nymphenburg Castle
The castle of the Bavarian ruling family, the Wittelsbacher, belongs to the magnificent buildings of this dynasty. Today, the connected castle park is a recreation area for residents and tourists. In addition to a guided tour of the mansions of the castle, a visit to the Naturkundemuseums Mensch und Natur is also offered, which is also accommodated in the building.
Murnau
Murnau rises above the nature reserve Murnauer Moos and the three warmest bathing lakes of Upper Bavaria. From a viewing balcony you can see the summits of the Wetterstein, Ester and Ammergebirge.Malerische Winkel and alleys are motifs of world-famous paintings by Wassily Kandinsky and Gabriele Münter, who lived together in the Münterhaus from 1909-1914. The castle museum is dedicated to the artists of the "Blue Rider", but also documents landscape and local history, shows an international collection of backgammons and recalls the ten Murnau years of the writer Ödön von Horváth.
Under the onion tower of the parish church of St. Nikolaus is hidden a gem baroque church building. Emanuel von Seidl, the Munich Art Nouveau architect, designed the protected facades of the pedestrian zone with a town hall. Small restaurants, cafes, boutiques and an international audience characterize the townscape. Five minutes away is the cultural and meeting center with a park - central event center for concerts, theaters, congresses, and exhibitions.
Lake Starnberg
In front of the majestic backdrop of the Bavarian Alps, only 20 kilometers south of Munich, lies the holiday paradise "Starnberger Fünf-See-Land". It is home to nine nature reserves, so that more than two-thirds of the Starnberg Five-Lakes region are protected by the landscape. Excellent water quality ensures a "clean" stay.
For active holidaymakers the Starnberger Fünf-Seen-Land offers a lot of water fun. There are numerous sailing, surfing and water kites. If you want to take it a little quieter, has four opportunities for fishing. For hikers and cyclists there are over 300 km of cycle paths and 220 km of hiking trails available. Beer gardens, picturesque places, houses with air-painting on the facades - "Oberbayern" as from the picture book.
Garmisch Partenkirchen
Equally as endearing: the historic district of Partenkirchen. It’s jam-packed with fascinating history as well. The Fraundorfer Inn with its magnificent farmer’s wedding paintings, the Werdenfels Museum or Haus Simon, where Archangel Gabriel with his fire sword and lily is standing guard. Those are living memories of days long past that keep shaping the overall appearance of Partenkirchen still today. A slight breeze, a few rays of sunlight and a cold beer in front of one of the many traditional houses in the historic district of Partenkirchen – that’s all it takes for the original Bavarian holiday feeling! The beauty of Garmisch-Partenkirchen doesn’t end at its town limits – quite the contrary! Where historic alleys and history-charged facades end, a natural spectacle begins that you can’t help but marvel at. Snow-covered summits, lush green meadows, wide valleys and shady ravines: The scenery surrounding Garmisch-Partenkirchen invites you to dream and enjoy and explore – all at the same time!
Tegernsee - Gmund
Gmund's guests are unmistakable, down-to-earth and tradition-conscious. You want to get to know and enjoy the original Bavarian life? Then you are in the best place. Already Ludwig Erhard, the former Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Minister of Economic Affairs, quietized his desire for peace and quiet. He was at home in Gmund and is buried here as well. The rural tradition has been preserved, maintained and passed on from generation to generation for centuries. In the local museum "Jagerhaus" you will find many proofs.
Gmund is regarded as the most family-friendly place in the holiday region Tegernsee. The slightly hilly foothills of the Alps are ideal for hikers and cyclists.
Bad Tölz
Bad Tölz is a city with about 18,000 inhabitants: tranquil and yet versatile, with urban infrastructure and yet characterized by the rural idyll. And best of all, if you like, you can easily explore the sights of the town on foot.
