tour description

Playful elegance and student flair.

Let yourself be enchanted by the uniquely beautiful VILA VITA Rosenpark Hotel, the idyllic Lahn cycle path and, of course, the lovely historic university town of Marburg with its attractive surrounding countryside. As they say in Marburg: Marburg doesn't have a university, Marburg is a university. In the evening, enjoy the wide range of gastronomic offerings in the medieval old town and the colourful variety of cultural opportunities. During the day, cycle along the well-signposted Lahn cycle path, on former railway lines and along secluded forest paths. The cycle routes are mostly flat, with only a few climbs to master. You can look forward to Hessen's best cycle path network, which connects a multitude of sights.

Your hotel: VILA VITA Rosenpark

Nestled in the picturesque setting of the Lahn meadows, this exclusive hotel is located directly on the banks of the Lahn. Check into Marburg's top address for wellness holidays and let yourself be captured by the luxurious charm of this hotel, which meets a 5-star standard. During the day, enjoy wonderful cycling tours in the picturesque landscape that already inspired the Brothers Grimm. Relax on 1,000 square metres in the Rosenpark Spa with its unique snow cabin, various saunas, infrared seats, pendulum lounger, indoor pool, fitness room and take advantage of the wide range of wellness treatments. The 194 hotel rooms and suites are all furnished with great attention to detail and offer enough space for a relaxing holiday. Culinary delights are available in the hotel's two restaurants: The OLIVA Mediterranean with Italian flair and the 360° Bar & Lounge. Enjoy the great culinary offer with a rich breakfast buffet in the morning and look forward to refined Italian cuisine in the evening with homemade pizza from the wood-fired oven, dry age steak from the Mibrasa grill and traditional pasta or let the evening come to an end in the 360° Bar & Lounge with delicious drinks, modern bar food and regular live music events. In summer, the beautiful summer terrace also invites you to dine and linger. Not far from the hotel, Marburg's famous Elisabeth Church awaits your visit. From here, it is only a few steps to the romantic upper town, which is characterised by half-timbered houses. And of course you should also explore the beautiful Marburg Castle during your holiday week, which watches over the small university town. VILA VITA Rosenpark

1. day Marburg Arrival

If you would like to get to know Marburg on a guided tour on the day of your arrival (Saturdays, subject to change), you should plan your arrival so that you are ready for your first discoveries as early as 3:00 pm. An experienced city guide will show you the famous Elisabeth Church, Marburg's Landgrave's Palace and, of course, the Old Town, which is well worth seeing. This will give you the best possible overview and certainly your first insider tips for your holiday week.

2. day Amöneburg and Brücker Mill 42 km

Look forward to your first cycling stage and the more than 700-year-old Brücker Mühle. The historic mill, true to the original, is still in operation today. Follow the production process from grain to flour with excitement. Afterwards, the café in the idyllic mill courtyard or a place on the green sofa in the old pump room will tempt you. Freshly invigorated, you can master the climb up to the historic excursion town of Amöneburg. You will be rewarded with a unique panoramic view, a wonderful circular wall path and finally a thrilling descent. You then cycle quickly back to Marburg on completely flat cycle paths.

3. day Mathematikum Gießen 35 km

Today in Gießen, which you can reach comfortably by train (30 minutes by car), the "Mathematikum", the first mathematical hands-on museum in the world, beckons. Experiment with over 120 exhibits: lay puzzles, build bridges, rack your brains in puzzle games, watch a ball race and much more. After this highly interesting morning of play, you can cycle back to Marburg along the well-signposted Lahn cycle path through the Lahn valley. Just before you reach Marburg, stop for a break in the beer garden at the Niederweimar bathing lake. From the café, watch the wakeboarders on the water-skiing facility as they make daring jumps or try their first wakeboarding steps. Fun is guaranteed here!

4. day Along the young Lahn 45 km

Again, you start the day with a short train ride (54 minutes) that takes you into the upper Lahn valley to Bad Laasphe. Here, only 20 km from the source of the Lahn, the Lahn is still a small river. After a tour of the medieval old town, follow the secluded paths along the young Lahn. Cycle through lush meadows and gentle valley meadows on the Lahn cycle path to Biedenkopf. Visit the "Hinterland Museum" in the castle, which is well worth seeing. It vividly presents the regional and cultural history of the Lahn valley. Freshly educated, you whiz back to Marburg.

5. day Marburg on the water and on the hills

In the morning, take a fun tour on a pedal boat on the Lahn and enjoy Marburg from the water. After these water adventures, take a walk in the woods up to the Spiegelslustturm, the most beautiful viewing terrace over Marburg. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view over the city and the countryside from the tower and let yourself be spoilt with coffee and cake in the tower café. You will have plenty of time today for a stroll through Marburg's old town or to enjoy the amenities of your elegant hotel.

6. day Round trip to the Dammühle 25 km

Cycle along varied cycle paths, forest tracks and farm tracks to the "Dammühle", one of the most beautiful places to visit in the Marburg hinterland. Be inspired by this historic, listed water mill, which has been in the family for more than 300 years. Take a seat in the idyllic beer garden or play a game of mini-golf before you start your way back. Unfortunately, it starts with a short climb (approx. 500 m long), but then it's a wonderful ride back to the old university town of Marburg.

7. day Rauischholzhausen Castle 42 km

A real highlight awaits you today. In good spirits you cycle along a former railway line towards your rewarding destination, Rauischholzhausen Castle and Park. Marvel at the spacious castle park. The approximately 30-hectare English landscape park is home to almost 300 different tree species. It has been a protected landscape since 1956 and was even included in the European Garden Heritage Network's European Theme Route in 2009. Admire the small castle, indulge yourself in the nice café and let yourself drift by bike through the vast castle park before cycling back to Marburg along the beautiful railway line.

8. day Marburg Departure

After breakfast, your wonderful star bike tour in Marburg ends at the hotel. We wish you a pleasant journey home.
