During the day, cycle along the well-signposted Lahn cycle path, on former railway lines and along secluded forest paths. The cycle routes are mostly flat, with only a few climbs to master. You can look forward to Hessen's best cycle path network, which connects a multitude of sights.

This trip is perfect for:

  • Culture enthusiasts: discover historic towns and cultural hotspots in the Lahntal valley
  • Nature lovers: Enjoy the unique landscapes in and around the Lahn Valley
  • Half-timbered friends: Discover the small villages in the classic half-timbered style

Highlights

The Landgrave's Palace of Marburg
Marburg Castle is one of the most striking buildings in the city of Marburg. It was built as a castle in the 11th century and, in addition to its historical significance as the first residence of the Landgraviate of Hessen, is of great interest in terms of art and architectural history.

Das Landgrafenschloss Marburg

The Elisabeth Church in Marburg
As the first purely Gothic hall church on German soil, the Elisabethkirche is of special significance in terms of art history. The simple early Gothic architecture of the building is a special experience for many visitors. From the end of 2021, the Elisabethkirche will be renovated! For this reason, some areas will be inaccessible and there will be restrictions.

Elisabethkirche Marburg

The Old University of Marburg
They are old in any case, the foundations of the Dominican monastery founded in 1291, on which the building now known as the "Old University" was erected in the last third of the 19th century in neo-Gothic style. And knowledge has been intensively cultivated in this place since 1527. In that year, the Hessian Landgrave Philip the Magnanimous founded the Marburg University of Applied Sciences - the oldest Protestant university foundation to survive to this day.

Die Alte Universität Marburg

The Brücker Mill
Experience the atmosphere of an old mill and see how the simple but fascinating and still up-to-date technology of a mill works.

Brücker Mühle

Rauischholzhausen Castle
A particularly worthwhile destination is the castle in Rauischholzhausen with its beautiful castle park. Since 2004, cultural events and catering have also been held here. The 30-hectare English-style castle park was planted with about 300 different types of trees. The two watercourses that run through the park are dammed into ponds at several points. The park is open to the public all year round.

Tour

Travel to Marburg in a relaxed manner, stroll through the old town for a first impression, take a walk along the Lahn, visit the Landgrave's Palace or simply drift through the city and enjoy the start of your star bike tour de luxe in Marburg in a relaxed manner.

Cycle along varied cycle paths, forest tracks and farm tracks to the "Dammühle", one of the most beautiful places to visit in the Marburg hinterland. Be inspired by this historic, listed water mill, which has been in the family for more than 300 years. Take a seat in the idyllic beer garden or play a little mini-golf before you start your way back. Unfortunately, it starts with a short climb (approx. 500 m long), but then it's a wonderful ride back to the old university town of Marburg.

Look forward to your first cycling stage and the more than 700-year-old Brücker Mühle mill. The historic mill, true to the original, is still in operation today. Follow the production process from grain to flour with excitement. Afterwards, the café in the idyllic mill courtyard or a place on the green sofa in the old pump room will tempt you. Freshly invigorated, you can master the climb up to the historic excursion town of Amöneburg. You will be rewarded with a unique panoramic view, a wonderful circular wall path and finally a thrilling descent. You then cycle quickly back to Marburg on completely flat cycle paths.

In the morning, take a fun tour on a pedal boat on the Lahn and enjoy Marburg from the water. After these water adventures, take a walk in the woods up to the Spiegelslustturm, the most beautiful viewing terrace over Marburg. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view over the city and the countryside from the tower and let yourself be spoilt with coffee and cake in the tower café. You will have plenty of time today for a stroll through Marburg's old town or to enjoy the amenities of your elegant hotel.

A real highlight awaits you today. In good spirits you cycle along a former railway line towards your rewarding destination, Rauischholzhausen Castle and Park. Marvel at the spacious castle park. The approximately 30-hectare English landscape park is home to almost 300 different tree species. It has been a protected landscape since 1956 and was even included in the European Garden Heritage Network's European Theme Route in 2009. Admire the small castle, indulge yourself in the nice café and let yourself drift by bike through the vast castle park before cycling back to Marburg along the beautiful railway line.

After breakfast, your wonderful star bike tour in Marburg ends at the hotel. We wish you a pleasant journey home.
