Island hopping in South Dalmatia

You cycle the islands of Brač, Hvar, Korčula, Lastovo, Mljet and Šipan and experience the interaction of sea and land, culture and nature close up and personally.

1. day Split arrival
Individual journey to Split. Check-in on board starts between 2 and 2.30 pm at Split harbour. At about 4.30 pm, a guided city tour offers you the chance to see inside the former Palace of Emperor Diocletian and to learn about its transformation into the city which it has become. The boat will spend the night in Split.
2. day Island of Brač & Island of Hvar ca. 23 km
Look forward to the island of Brač, famous for its radiant limestone that was used for the White House in Washington and in the construction of the German Reichstag building in Berlin. Once we have arrived on Brač we cycle from the picturesque harbor town of Pučišća, known internationally for its stone masonry college, across the island to Bol. Close by lies the famous ‚Golden Horn‘, a popular Croatian beach famous for its unique shape. Keen swimmers can take a swim here before continuing on by boat to Jelsa on the island of Hvar.
3. day Island of Hvar & Island of Korčula ca. 35 km
Today’s cycling tour leads you to Stari Grad and later on to the opposite side of the Island of Hvar. After a short break our cycle tour leads us through lavender fields and small villages till we get to the islands capital. Make use of the time and go for a little stroll through the city of Hvar before boarding the boat. Standing on the magnificent Renaissance Square you can enjoy a view up to the Spanish fortress towering high above the city. The Island of Korčula is regarded to be one of the most beautiful islands in Dalmatia.
4. day Island of Korčula ca. 60 km
Today’s cycle tour leads us across the charming island of Korčula all the way to Korčula city. A mild Mediterranean climate and a broad variety of different landscapes await us here. The Picturesque town of Korčula competes with Venice for the honor of being the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. A guided city tour will give you an overview of the city and its features.
5. day Lastovo Island - Mljet Island ca. 28 km
A morning crossing takes us to the beautiful Island of Lastovo. The island is one of the smaller inhabited islands in the Adriatic Sea. The Emperor Augustus appreciated the mild climate, and in Roman times it was even named “Augusta Insula” after him. The barely more than 1,000 inhabitants continue to live from fishing the extremely rich waters, agriculture and viticulture. Today’s cycle tour takes us around the beautiful island. The gold-coloured white wine “Marastina”, known even beyond Croatia’s borders, is grown here. We enjoy a late lunch on board while cruising towards our destination of Pomena on the Island of Mljet.
6. day Mljet Island ca. 28 km
From Pomena on Mljet we cycle across the green and forested island – known as the honey island. With 70 % of its landmass covered by woodland it is the most forested island in the Mediterranean region. Homer mentioned this lovely island in his epic poem “Odyssey”. He made it a home for the Nymph Calypso and the legendary Greek king Odysseus, who could not resist Calypso and stayed on Mljet for seven years. Our boat will wait for us in Sobra from where we will cruise to the island of Šipan in the afternoon.
7. day Šipan Island – Dubrovnik ca. 11 km
Šipan is the largest of the Elaphiti Islands. Accompanied by your tour guide a pleasant cycle trip takes us past villas with exotic gardens and through a fertile valley framed by a range of limestone hills. Returning to the boat we enjoy our last crossing after an adventurous week. After arrival in Dubrovnik there is plenty of time to explore the UNESCO world Heritage city and to take part on a guided city tour. A cheerful evening meal on board the boat gives you time to celebrate the success of the week with fellow travelers and tour guides.
8. day Dubrovnik departure
After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home.

Velociped can withdraw from the tour twenty-one days before the starting date of the tour, at the latest, in case the minimum number of participants stated under the tour description is not attained. Arrival by plane
Please be aware, that your tour will either start in Split and end in Dubrovnik or vice-versa. Please check your booking confirmation for the harbor relevant to your tour. The direction of your tour can be seen on your booking confirmation. We recommend booking a ‘multi-stop’ flight.
The airport of Split (SPU) is situated about 23 km Split port. You may take a taxi from the airport to the boat (aprx. 20 euro/way).
The airport of Dubrovnik is situated about 15 km from the port of Gruz in Dubrovnik, your port of embarkation. You may take a taxi from the airport to the boat (aprx. 40 euro/way). Please make sure, that your flight arrives not later than 2.30 pm if you want to participate at our guided tour through Dubrovnik.

Arrival by car
Munich – Salzburg (130 km), Salzburg – Villach (180 km), Villach – Ljubljana (100 km), Ljubljana – Rijeka (130 km): Autobahn after Ljubljana until exit Kozina, further on the road to Rijeka. From Rijeka to Split or Dubrovnik: along the main road to Senj, there turn towards the Autobahn to Split. Depending on the port of embarkation, follow the Autobahn to Split or Dubrovnik (360km or 550 km, approx. 4 hours or 6.5 hours).
You can park your car in one of the public guarded parking lots. In Dubrovnik you will find a long-term parking space at the city harbor Gruz, at the ferry terminal, approx, 28,00 EUR per day / car.
The cycle tours require an advanced level of fitness. The tours will take us up to a height of 200 – 500 m above sea-level. The day-tours will take us through hilly and mountainous terrain and will be completed without any time-constraints. Participants will also need to master long and steep climbs. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend time on board the boat, instead of taking a planned cycle-tour. Helmet use is mandatory on all cycle tours. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own (well-fitted) helmet. Rental helmets are available in limited numbers (reservation requested).

You can choose between 21-speed gear shift trekking bikes for men and women or electric bikes.

The on-board chef is a member of the crew and prepares the breakfast and one or two warm meals a day. The catering consists of 4 x full board and 3 x half board. Catering starts with the dinner on the arrival day and ends with the breakfast on the departure day.

You can book a cabin for three persons and get a 50 % price discount (on the base price) for the third person.
We believe that only children in a good physical condition and with a minimum age of 10 and previous bicycle tour experience are able to master the cycle tours on their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.20 m (4 ft.) for hybrid bicycles and 1.50 m (4.5 ft.) for e-bikes. There is a helmet duty for all children up to age 16 in Croatia.
We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements. If necessary the tour will be operated in reverse.
Bringing your own electric bike
It is not possible to bring your own e-bike on the ship as a safety measure and to protect the health of the guides. If you want to ride an e-bike, we can offer this for booking.

Just in case the bike chain is broken, flooding makes it impossible to continue your tour or any other nasty surprise: you can reach us seven days a week and we will do anything to help you as fast as possible.
Passport and visa requirements, health regulations
For EU citizens, there are no special passport or visa requirements and no health formalities to be considered for this trip.
The tour price already includes the statutory insolvency insurance. In addition, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance upon receipt of your travel confirmation in order to protect yourself against financial disadvantages in the event of travel cancellation, interruption of travel, illness or accident.
Split is the largest city in southern Croatia and is popularly known as the "capital of Dalmatia". The offer of sights is large. The city center including the Diocletian's Palace is a World Heritage Site since 1979. The heart of the city is the old town, which lies on the southern coast of the peninsula of Split. Right by the sea is the boulevard Riva, a famous landmark.
Island of Brač
The island of Brac is the largest island in Dalmatia and known for its marble-like limestone, which was also used in the construction of the "White House". It offers many swimming and leisure activities.
Island of Korčula
The island of Korcula has many small, secluded beaches and coves. It is rich in culture and art. The capital of the island is a typical medieval-looking city. Allegedly the famous globetrotter Marco Polo was born in the old district of Korcula.
The island of Mljet is a true paradise of nature, which will delight you with a huge national park, dense forests, beautiful bays and beaches. The national park is located in the northwestern part of the island and offers a contrasting landscape. Due to the lush vegetation in the area of the National Park, the island is often referred to as "the green island". Another attraction is the salt lakes, which are more than 10,000 years old, unique phenomena with some Dalmatian plants, which you will find only on the rocky coast of the island.
The "Pearl of the Adriatic Sea", located in the south of Croatia, with its rich historical heritage is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The entire historic city center is surrounded by a 2-kilometer-long, completely accessible city wall and fascinates with its medieval architecture. The entire old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will be enthusiastic! On offshore islands you will find beautiful beaches and coves to linger.
