Weser - The short from Hann.Münden to Minden.
Weser bike trail from Hann.Münden to Minden
Just a little longer than a weekend but feels like a complete holiday! This bike tour starts in Hann.Münden, a beautiful city full of half-timbered houses, at the confluence of the Werra and Fulda rivers. Follow the signs on the bike route along the river into the Northern German lowland to Minden.
Get here early to have a chance to see the 700+ half-timbered houses in the city, as well as renaissance-era city hall. There is parking at the hotel, and bicycles are also available for rent.
The former Benedictine monastery at Bursfelde, and Oberweser with its open-air milling museum await you.
Today your ride takes you along the border of Solling. You'll pass the Fürstenberg castle, where porcelain is made, before you reach the cloister at Corvey. After that, continue on to the next highlight of the tour: the palace at Bevern, one of the most impressive buildings of the renaissance in Weser.
After leaving Bodenwerder, you'll be greeted by the picturesque Hämelschenburg, before being captivated by the Pied Piper of Hameln's song in - where else?? Hameln.
You'll see Bad Oeynhausen, famous for its "Jordansprudel," the largest carbonated hot spring in the world. But things will get a bit tight (literally!) in the valley at Porta Westfalica, the gateway to Westphalia, before you reach Minden. Without overnight your bike tour ends today in Minden. If you want you can book in advance a transfer back to Hann.Münden (departure 3 p.m.).
