Mecklenburgs Lake District by boat and bike

Land of thousand Lakes is the attributed name of Mecklenburgs Lake District. Watercourses of all sizes connect an incredible number of lakes. Little villages, tranquil country and forests of National Park Muritz with rare bird species as e.g. cranes, kingfishers and sea eagles are the attractions of this tour. A land of thousand lakes for thousand beautiful memories.

The boat MS Gretha van Holland

If MS Gretha van Holland were a person, she would be a friendly and vivacious elderly lady. Built to navigate narrow and rather shallow watercourses she is ideally suited for this tour. 18 to 22 persons find room in 12 small outside cabins with en-suite shower and toilet. The portholes can be opened, central air-condition cools down high summer temperatures. A seasoned crew and the chef will pamper you and your palate.

1. day  Waren arrival

Saturday: individual journey to Waren and embarkation from 4.00 pm.

2. day  Waren - Malchow/ Plauer See 30 km

In the morning you set out in Waren to the see European Bisons in Damerower Werder, then around lake Fleesensee to island town Malchow. Cruise to Plau am See, where the boat will stop overnight.

3. day  From Plauer See to Müritz 30 km

Cycle along the west bank of Plauer See via Plau to museum village Alt Schwerin, continue to Malchow and take the boat to Binnenmuritz.

4. day  Waren – Röbel – Diemitz 30 km

Splendid castle Klink is the first highlight of today’s cycle trip. Meet the boat in fisher village Sietow, then cycle on to Röbel with two magnificent churches. In the afternoon boat cruise to lock Diemitz.

5. day  Rheinsberger lake district 20-50 km

Castle Rheinsberg was made famous by German authors Theodor Fontane and Kurt Tucholsky. Visit the idyllic castle with beautiful park Then return to the boat in Kleinzerlang or continue via Neuglobsow and along Lake Stechlin.

6. day  Kleinzerlang & Rechlin 35 km

You pass many small lakes and ponds on your cycle tour to Fleeth Mill and then to Mirow. The romantic lake castle is also named “love-island”. Continue via Lärtz to Rechlin on the south end of Muritz.

7. day  Müritz National Park 35 km

From manor house Boek you set out into Muritz National Park with large pine- and beech forests, countless small lakes and moors. In the afternoon you return to Waren and enjoy a lovely fare-well buffet.

8. day  Waren departure

Saturday: Individual journey home
After breakfast disembarkation and individual journey home.
