Roundtrip Lüneburg Heath in 9 days.

Romanticist, venturous roller coaster heroes and friends of culture – they all love the moor land of Luneburg like poet Hermann Löns did. We are not surprised about that! Amusement parks, old timbered houses, big cities like Bremen and an especial train station in Uelzen: this region is multifunctional – and you will find no mountains here. But this is no disadvantage for bikers. You will cycle on excellent bike paths. This moor land and your bike: that fits...

1. day  Bremen arrival

Individual arrival in Bremen with its historical Old-town, Roland, city hall and the inviting Schnoorviertel. Info talk/hand-over of the bikes in the afternoon.

2. day  Bremen - Rotenburg 44 km

Today you will bike along the romantic Wümme river to Rotenburg with its beautiful Old Town.

3. day  Rotenburg - Schneverdingen 43 km

You will discover red and purple colors today biking right into the natural resort of the Lüneburg Heath where scoth- and bog heath characterize the landscape. A special highlight is the heath garden close to Schneverdingen, in bloom all year long with its more than 100 different heaths and 80.000 plants.

4. day  Schneverdingen - Lüneburg 60 km

Passing through this impressive moorland you will reach Lüneburg. Discover this youthful town, with its university and the baroque town hall, the picturesque centre peppered with various neat brick houses.

5. day  Lüneburg - Uelzen 55 km

Pink, red, purple? The typical moorland landscape will accompany you once more today! Uelzen is proud of its numerous medieval churches and chapels and make a stop at the "Hundertwasser-train station Uelzen". It is one of the most beautiful ones in the world. In the context of the Expo 2000 it was rebuilt in the style of Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

6. day  Uelzen - Celle 60 km

The never-ending width of the moorlands, the forests, juniper bushes and moors lead you to Celle. 480 remodeled half-timbered houses can be seen in the Old-town, the castle in the style of the Weser-renaissance is just as worthwhile.

7. day  Celle - Soltau 55 km

Today you will cycle through the natural park of the Southern Moorlands. The inhabitants call Soltau "the heart of the heath". If you are out for action today a visit of the Heide-Park will be just perfect! More than 40 attractions and breath-taking shows will arrange for your entertainment. The thermae however invites to relax, it is one of Northern Germanys nicest adventure pools. Anyone crazy for toys should visit the toy museum where 350 pieces from 4 decades are displayed.

8. day  Soltau - Verden 50 km

Small villages such as Avenriep, Bommelsen and Kükenmoor line your way to Verden, a town by the Weser more than 1000 years old. The riders town with its cathedral will not only attract those who are interested in horses!

9. day  Verden - Bremen 53 km/departure

The day to say goodbye to the colorful beauty of the moorlands has come. Along the Weser you will return to the city centre of Bremen. Individual return trip.
