Lake Constance bike trail: the classic tour.
Lake Constance – no other holiday destination in Europe symbolises such a classical bicycling region as the landscape surrounding the lake between Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Now the biking starts and you cycle to the island Reichenau, a world heritage site with the important collegiate churches Sankt Georg and Sankt Peter und Paul.Back on land you cycle to the peninsula Höri and to Gaienhofen. Hermann Hesse lived here 1904-1912; nowadays an interesting museum is located here. In short time you reach Stein am Rhein, a medieval town with houses decorated with frescos.
Today you cycle along the Swiss shore through romantic fishing villages to Konstanz. Soon you reach the island of the flowers Mainau, the "fifth season" at the lake Constance. You can only discover this island by foot. Afterwards you cycle to Wallhausen in order to go by ship to Überlingen.
Today one atttraction follows the other. First you cycle to the worth-seeing baroque church Birnau. Soon you reach the lake dwellings near Unteruhldingen, before you arrive in Meersburg. You should not only visit the castle but also enjoy the flair of the lively town. You may also visit the museum of the zeppelins in Friedrichshafen. Accommodation in Nonnenhorn/Lindau.
It is hard to say goodbye to Lindau with it´s beautiful old town but new impressions lie ahead. You cycle through Austria to the festival town Bregenz with its famous lake-stage. By cable railway you may go on the Pfänder and enjoy a phantastic view of the Lake Constance. Quickly you cycle through the nature protection area Rheindelta to Switzerland.
Through small villages and villages full of framework you cycle along the Swiss shore to Konstanz. En-route you should make a break in the worth-seeing old town of Arbon.

After breakfast your round trip at Lake Constance ends. You may book extra nights for all towns of your trip, because Lake Constance is really worth a bicycle journey!
