In between sun and sea, the Alps and the Adria, this bike trip leads you to the most beautiful sights of Northern Italy. Easy, flat stages, the delicacies of the Italian kitchen, regional culinary specials (pasta, grappa, prosecco), wonderful history and culture guarantee a great pleasure!
There are three airports within 60 km (Venice, Verona, Treviso/Ryanair). The hotel is situated in the historical city centre. Free parking facilities are available and the bikes will be handed over at the hotel.
Saying goodbye to the magnificent centre of Vicenza is hard. With the wind in your back and the sun in your hair you will cycle towards a famous place. Here, where southern flair and the austere charm of the foothills of the Alps meet, the world famous Grappa has been distilled ever since the 18th century and the most beautiful Majolika products have been produced.
Today neat bike trails will guide you through the Prosecco vineyards. Visit Asolo, one of the most beautiful places of the Veneto with great palazzi and bourgeois houses dating from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque. Then marvel at Villa Barbaro, the most magnificent villa of Palladios, before reaching Treviso with its endless number of canals.
Easily you will follow the little Sille river today. Keep your camera ready to take pictures of the sunken wooden wrecks of the Burci boats you will pass on your way. An impressive experience of an untouched nature! You will reach your hotel in Mestre early so that there will still be enough time for a trip to Venice (about 10 minutes from here).
By bike and ship you will reach the islands of Lido and Pellestrina, situated between lagoon and the open sea. Be looking forward to Lido, Venice’ 12 km long beach! Here is where Europe’s Hautevolee used to meet in luxurious residences at the turn of the century, where the famous movie “Death in Venice” was produced and where the International Film Festivals take place annually. Pellestrina on the other hand leaves a very modest impression with its small wooden houses. The evening will be spent in the picturesque fishing village of Chioggia – Venice’ little sister.
Today you will follow the idyllic banks of the Brenta- canal, seamed by more than 150 rural residences and villas in the 16th century. Many of the have fallen into ruins today, but visiting the famous Villa Pisani is an absolute must! Don’t get lost in the maze, as Padua, the most beautiful town of Northern Italy, awaits you now.
By the foot of the Berici mountains you will ride through Costozza, to the Palladio Villa Rotonda, and to Villa Valmarana di Nani with great frescos by Tiepolo.
