dates of arrival:

From Bolzano to Venice

A short distance through South Tyrol’s vineyards and along the Àdige to Trentino. Lago di Garda will be included, at the southern end of which the tour leads to Veneto and then in the Po Valley. Famous cities such as Verona, Vicenza and Venice are either stage destinations or located on the way. They promise an extremely interesting bike tour. A boat journey on Lago di Garda and possibilities to visit the thermal springs of "Abano Terme" take care of rest and more variety.

1. day  Arrival at Bolzano (Cat. B: Arrival at Bolzano/Surroundings)

Introductory meeting and issue of the rental bikes.

2. day  Trento 69 km

Usually along the Adige, partly through the orchards to Salurn, where the German speaking South Tyrol comes to an end. The dam pathways lead to Trento (the old part of town is very much worth seeing).

3. day  Trento–Lake Garda (Cat. A) 45 km + boat trip/Ala/Rivalta (Cat. B) 60–70 km

At first again along the Adige through Roverto to Mori. From here the tour leads westward in the direction of the Lago di Garda. After a short ascent a descent follows and leads you via the lake to Torbole and to Riva. From here you go on a boat journey on the whole length of the lake to Sirmione/Desenzano (Cat. A). The Adige valley gets more and more narrow and you come always nearer to the rocks of the mountain ranges. There you can have a look on imposing castles, which held guard over one of the most important trade channels for a few centuries. Rovereto and the Mozart-town Ala should be visited (Cat. B).

4. day  Lake Garda–Verona 50 km (Cat. A) /Ala/Dolce – Verona (Cat. B) 65 km

Partly flat, partly easily hilly through the vine hills to Verona, a city full of places of interest (festival arena, Julia`s house, old city walls, roman bridge) (Cat. A). With a few interceptions you cycle on a good extended bicycle path along the Àdige to Verona (Cat. B).

5. day  Vicenza 70 km

Today is the longest stage on the program. At first flat and then through the hill of "Monti Berici", the excursion region of Vicenza, with a beautiful view of the city. In the old part of town one can still feel the ghost of Palladio, the famous architect from the Middle Ages.

6. day  Abano Terme 35 km

Numerous Venetian villas are located at the exit of Vicenza, such as for example the Villa Rotonda. Along the Bacchiglione the way leads to Abano Terme/Montegrotto, one of Italy’s famous spas, as the destination of the stage. Padua, the city of Saint Antonius and scholars, that can also be easily reached from Abano by bus. The short stage allows an excursion to Padova, that can be easily reached from Abano. If you prefer to relax enjoy the thermal springs.

7. day  Venice (Mestre/Marghera/Mira) 40 km

Usually supported by the light wind you bike easily through the Veneto in the direction of the mediterranian sea. Fields and meadows set the tone of the landscape. The destination of the stage is located in or near to Marghera/Mestre on the mainland before Venice with good bus connections to the lagoon city.

8. day  Departure or extension in Marghera/Mestre.

Transfer back to Bolzano by bus possible (55,00 Euro per person, bike included, payable on spot, reservation necessary). You can also take a train back to Bolzano (3,5 hours) but there's no bike transport.
