This bike trip leads to the most famous towns, such as Udine, Triest, the Austrian town in Italy and the famous vine growing area - the Collio. We cycle to historical places such as the villa Manin where Europe was divided again after the defeat of Napoleon or the villa Miramare, the most popular castle of empress Sissi. Another great experience will surely also be the visit of Venice and the more quiet islands of the Venecian lagoon such as Burano and the 'glass island' Murano. During the choice of the cycling stage the scenic allurement shows to advantage, alluvial and pine forests, along paddy fields and especially the vine growing area of the Collio with its famous Enotecas.
The dominating shape of the landscape are the lowlands, crossed by many attracting channels. In the distance we are accompanied by the Alps in the North , white lime stones with snow covered peaks far into the summer. In the East, hill country awaits us, such as in the Tuscany, but our way passes the hills and won't lead into. For everybody this bike tour is easily to cope with, stages are just up to 65 km maximum. We are going to cycle on side roads, on bikeways and along the beach (and just little gateways have more traffic).
It is possible to park your car for the whole week, free of charge in our classy hotel. Take your time to visit the medieval monastery Abbazia from century 8th and look forward during an exclusive dinner experiencing the next days.
We cycle along quiet lowlands of the Tagliamento river and stop at the Manin villa, in which Napoleon used to spend the night and Europe was divided in the treaty of Campoformido. In the late afternoon we are going to reach San Daniele.
The medieval town of Cividale attracts, but Udine will impress with its historical buildings, the numerous Cafés and its indefinable flair between the Alps and the lowlands.
Over the Ponte Diavolo (devils' bridge) you leave Cividale and dive into the Collio, the famous vine region. Left and right a hill landscape is spreading, similar to the Tuscany, but your route generally stays flat (don't worry, the total difference in height, which you have to cope with is approx. 200m). In Gorizia you can discover the old castle of the old town of Görz, whose counts used to rule up to Germany.
Along the intensely battled Isonzo river you leave the divided town (Nova Goriza belongs to Slovenia) and cycle through the 'Lago di Doberdo-Pietra Rossa' nature preserve. We cycle along the imposing coast and get to the most popular castle of empress Sissi, Castello di Miramare. Over the promenade you get to the town of Triest.
Reluctantly you will say goodbye to most Austrian city of Italy, coffee houses similar to those in Vienna with sea view and a lot more will remind you for a long time of Triest. On your program for today are Coastal landscapes, the lowlands of the 'di Cáorle lagoon' and some famous coastal resorts of the Adriatic coast.
A great experience of our tour will be Venice. You may already know this famous town but you should visit the quiet islands. Along the lagoon of Venice you cycle on car-free roads to the headland of Cavallino and get from the Punta Sabbioni by ferry to Venice or visit the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello.
Also today rivers and channels such as in the Netherlands will accompany you. Just the Italian sun an some medieval cross-town links with arcades remind of your southern whereabout.
