In the saddle from castle to castle.
The Loire valley – the perfect example of romance in France. The rural charm throughout the region and the cultural richness of its towns, but it's down to its castles that the Loire became most famous. Kings, Lehnsherren, ladies-in-waiting, all tempted by the attractive, beautiful countryside of the Loire Valley, "Garden of France" had many hundreds of castles, manor houses and dream residences built here. Villandry, Langeais, Usse, Chinon, Saumur, Azay-le-Rideau, Chenonceaux, Chaumont, Blois, Chambord and many many more. Within just one single day the atmosphere of the river can change to the exact opposite: from foggy gloomy and melancholy, which the French call grisaille [in French it still sounds very poetic], it can change to the most magnificent sunset, turning the countryside into the most beautiful of pastel colours all around! So what other decision can there be? then to find out more about this fascinating region of France, of course by bike.
Conditions: Cycling mainly along small and quiet roads, side streets, mostly flat with a few gentle uneven parts of the valley from Loire and Indre. Several shorter inclines can be conquered by pushing your bike.
