Especially nature lovers will be inspired the first day cycling and exploring the “Kirschblüten” bike trail. More than 10,000 cherry trees line the road and during the flowering period from mid-April to May, you cycle through a fragrant, rosy sea of flowers. From Neusiedl at the lake you cycle to Jois and along the wine road to Donnerskirchen and then via Purbach back again.
Today it is wonderfully flat and you'll cycle on the lake shore along a romantic desert area that characterized the nature preservation area Seewinkel. Look forward to the beautiful seaside resort Podersdor and visit the over 200 years old windmill. Only a few kilometers from the lake you'll find the twin-towered baroque pilgrimage church “Maria auf der Heide”. From there you'll quickly reach Illmitz - the deepest spot in Austria, situated in the heart of the national park Seewinkel. Look forward to 2 overnight stays in IIIzitz. Wine lovers will get one's money worth when faced with numerous wine events.
Today you breathe sea air, a small bike ferry brings you across the lovely lake Neusiedl to the festival city of Mörbisch. On well-paved tracks you cycle through a very small border crossing which is only passable for cyclists and pedestrians. Suddenly you are in Hungary! We recommend a short trip to Sopron to look a the historic city and the beautiful Renaissance houses. In the afternoon you should visit one of the most important Esterházy-Castles in Fertöd. In Pamhagen you'll leave Hungary and cycle back to the vine and bathing resort Illmitz.
Today you'll sail once again across to Mörbisch. From the water you'll see the largest floating stage in Europe, where every summer the famous operetta festival takes place. Mörbisch still offers much more: Visit the “Heimathaus” (UNESCO world heritage site) and stroll through the interesting alleys and yards. On your short bike tour to Eisenstadt it is worth to make a detour to
St. Margaret. Embedded in vineyards and gently hills you find the famous village Eisenstadt where since 1961 passion plays take place in the Roman quarry. Two overnight stays in Eisenstadt.
Today you have time to discover the provincial capital Eisenstadt – with 14,000 inhabitants one of the smallest state capitals in Austria. Following the motto "small, jet nice ", the former residence of the Prince Esterhazy is worth seeing. Marvel at Esterházy castle, visit the mountain church, the St. Martin cathedral and the castle park - a former baroque garden which was rebuilt in 1800 into an English country garden. If you walk through the landmarked Old Town, you actually only waiting to meet the famous composer Joseph Haydn. However, today your bike stands still - unless you want to use it for a short bike ride to discover the beautiful surrounding.
Today lake Neusiedl and a lovely bike tour through the vineyards lures. Slightly up and down you cycle through the countryside, past countless vineyards and idyllic wine places. Numerous mountain huts invite you to stop for a bit to eat. On the last evening once again you'll be spoiled by your host before you start the next day your return home.
