Salzkammergut 10 Lakes Cycling Tour

Due to its unique characteristics, the Salzkammergut scenery with its thousands of years of history is one of the most beautiful regions in central Europe. Numerous mountains, more than 70 lakes with beautiful villages and markets as well as cultural treasures and the healing qualities of earth and climate make this region to a special one.

1. day  Arrival at lake Wolfgangsee

Arrival at lake "Wolfgangsee", Check-In. Handing out of your travel documents and the hired bikes.

2. day  Traunsee 50 km

The ship takes you from St. Wolfgang to St. Gilgen. You cycle along the shore of the lake, through the nature reserve "Blinklingmoos" to Strobl and further on to Bad Ischl. There you have the possibility to visit the "imperial villa" (=Kaiservilla) and to take a cup of tea or coffee and cake at the well-known confectionary "Zauner". The river Traun guides you directly to lake Traunsee.

3. day  Attersee 43 km

Today you continue cycling in direction of lake Attersee – one of the most popular bathing lakes in Upper Austria. You will be fascinated by its size and colour.

4. day  Salzburg 53 km

Thousands of years ago the glacier of mountain "Traunstein" paved the way to Salzburg. You pass lake Mondsee and cycle along the former trace of the railway "Ischlerbahn" to the festival city Salzburg where you have your overnight stay.

5. day  Gosau/ Bad Goisern 34 km

Along the river Salzach you cycle through the centre of Salzburg, pass residences, churches and the fortress Hohensalzburg. A nice cycling path guides you to the castle "Hellbrunn" where you have the possibility to visit the famous trick fountains. You continue to Golling. Starting from Golling a bus transfer brings you to the Gosau Valley. Overnight stay in Gosau or Bad Goisern (transfer 40 km).

6. day  Hallstatt/ Bad Aussee 32 km

Today you cycle through the UNESCO world heritage region Hallstatt-Dachstein. Visit the unique ice caves and stroll through the small lanes of the historic town Hallstatt. We recommend to have a shipping trip on lake "Hallstättersee".

7. day  Lake Wolfgangsee 37 km

After a short ride on the train along lake Hallstätter
See you cycle to Bad Ischl, the former summer residenz of emperor Franz Joseph. Look forward to your return to the lake Wolfgangsee and finish relaxed your last cycling day.

8. day  Lake Wolfgangsee departure

End of your bicycle tour. We recommend to book extra nights!
